OPENING SEQUENCE
The music playing is called Everyday by Don Mclean.

I beg to differ, it was "Every Day" but by Buddy Holly.

Just FYI, I don't write the Lost Report...I get it from someone else

Now, is it me, or does Keamy look like he's related to Bonnie (from the underwater station where Charlie died)?

The LOST Report

My Serious, Logical Thoughts on Theres No Place Like Home

Welcome to Theres No Place Like Home

TITLE
This is a line from the famous movie The Wizard of Oz (1939) starring Judy Garland. This is not the first Oz reference. There was Henry Gale the man who was in the balloon and whose name Ben stole for a while and there were the feet Desmond saw in one of his visions that looked suspiciously like the feet of the witch on whom the house of Dorothy fell.

OPENING SEQUENCE
Notice the luck charm held by the co pilot. It looks like a rabbits foot and the pilot says the cargo, the Oceanic six, have bad mojo. This is a subtle reminder of one of the themes of the show which is luck versus fate. You may have noticed different characters taking different sides in this argument throughout the series. Is it luck that these six survived the crash or was it fate? Of course we know more survived and the same argument could be said about them. The reunion scene at the airport was touching. Which side are you on? Fate or luck?
The father of Hurley must have been relieved when Hurley said he did not want the money back. Recall the only reason he came back anyway was for the money.

HURLEY NUMBERS
We see a rare appearance of all the Hurley numbers together. Usually we just see a few of the numbers but here we see all of them together. We saw all of the numbers together written on the hatch, on a bottle and now on the speedometer and odometer of a car.

HOME IS WHERE THE PLOT IS
It should be noted that home is anything but peaceful for our Oceanic Six. Although Sayid meets and marries Nadia she is soon murdered most likely by goons of mister Widmore. Hurley will have himself admitted to the asylum again after seeing the ghost of Charlie. And Jack will start taking drugs after seeing the ghost of his father. A far cry from the meaning behind the words uttered by Dorothy in the movie. To her home was a happy place where she wanted to be. We know Jack will very much like to return to the island shortly and probably Hurley as well. Although Kate is not seeing ghosts that does not mean she will not.

LETS GET THIS ISLAND MOVING
If the island really can be moved then I am reminded of the famous floating island first introduced in the movie Dr. Dolittle. No not the Eddie Murphy version, the 1967 version. In the movie an island actually floats around and changes position. This begs the question has the island been moved in the past? If so was it near Africa at some point? Then that would explain how the brother of Eko crashed his plane on the island. He did not have far to fly. Is the island moving process the same one that transported Ben to the desert in Africa? Is it related to the Black Rock in any way? A moving island certainly would be hard to locate. Are we talking teleportation here because that would explain a lot.

JIN
Looks like Jin is really dead. I had hoped that he was still on the island but Sun says that there are two men responsible for the death of Jin one of whom is her father. Who is the other? Keamy? Ben? I vote for Keamy and company.

ALL IN THE FAMILY
We now get a better understanding of why Jack took so long to come over to the house of Kate. Kate said I know why you dont want to see the baby but until you do there is no us going out for coffee. It is because the baby is the nephew of Jack and he knows it. But he cannot tell anyone. They must stick to their story. And why is that by the way? Here are some theories I have as to why the Oceanic Six made up their story:

No one would believe them and they did not want to sound crazy
They made a deal with Widmore or his men that if they were allowed to live then they would tell no one of the island or their experiences there

Which idea do you like or can you think of another reason why the Oceanic Six would make up a lie about what happened to them?

WONDER WONDER HOW I WONDER WHO …… WHO PUT THE C4 ON!
Did you notice the large amount of C4 on the boat? I know that Michael had a bomb which later turned out to be a fake but even he seemed surprise to find all that C4 there. So where did it come from? And it seemed hooked up and ready to detonate. Does anyone know? Did I miss something because I do not remember being shown all the C4 before on the boat. What about the LOSTaways who made it to the freighter with Sayid? Since they were not members of the Oceanic Six what will happen to them? I assume that they will be killed at some point perhaps by whoever kills Jin.

ORCHID STATION
The real orchid station is underground and is where the controls are that move the island. In the notebook of Faraday we see the eight-sided DHARMA logo with a spiral pattern in the middle. The spiral pattern begins with what looks like the ends of a fish. The words Space Like Factors appear above and to the right of the drawing. Is this a slight reference to teleportation?

The father of Sun found out the hard way that hell hath no wrath like a womans scorn when Sun buys ownership in his company. She shows him that she has business acumen. Notice how he says that she would not understand his business affairs and meanwhile she has just bought stock in his company.

ODDS AND ENDS
When Hugo says he still wants to get off the island John tells him that it is a little late for that. But obviously it is not since he makes it off the island. What happens to get Hurley off it then? Recall the boat running people to the freighter is still operating and then there is the helicopter. That is two chances right there to get off. But he must do it before the island is moved.
Who does Ben signal with the mirror? Answer: One of his own followers such as mister Alpert. What message does Ben tell them? Probably meet me at the Orchid station.
The soda crackers Hurley eats are 15 years old and 15 is a Hurley number.
John says to Ben I thought you said that you had no idea why he (mister Widmore) was trying to find the island. However this line makes no sense since Ben did explain to Locke why Widmore wanted it. Ben said that he wanted the island for its healing powers then he could charge a huge price for sick people to come to the island and get cured. That is what Ben told Locke in Otherville. Why then does Locke make this absurd statement. Also Ben says that he has not been entirely truthful. What am I missing here? Help anyone?

The LOST Report

My Serious, Logical Thoughts on Theres No Place Like Home Parts 2 and 3

Welcome to Theres No Place Like Home Parts two and three

TITLE
Same as before. A Wizard of Oz quote.

HOW EXOTIC
The video mentions that the teleportation device uses exotic matter. Exotic matter is not made of the stuff that you and I encounter on a daily basis. Things we touch and look at are made of baryonic matter. You can think of this as regular matter if you’d like. Baryonic matter is made of protons and neutrons. Exotic matter is not. One example of exotic matter is a tiny particle called a neutrino. This nearly massless particle can travel at speeds near the speed of light. Scientists do not know what all exotic matter exists in the universe because exotic matter cannot be detected by telescopes. You can’t see it.
Notice the scene near the end where Ben moves the island ties in nicely with the episode the shape of things to come where Ben ends up in the desert in Africa. Ben is lying in the desert wearing the same Parka as he wears in this episode. Now we know the rest of the story. Notice also the date when Ben arrives in Africa is October 24, 2005. This is near a year after he moved the island so Ben was transported forward in time almost a year. Ben did mention a time traveling bunny before he left. Also if you watch the mine episodes at ABC.com there is one about the time traveling bunny and the making of the video Locke watches in this episode. For those of you who have not seen it. The bunny appears in the room while they are filming the video! Edgar Haliwax is also holding the bunny so there are two of the same bunny in the room. After Ben moved the island the consequences Ben mentioned to John come to pass and Ben is teleported to Africa. Also when Ben arrives at the hotel there he asks what the date is.
This also may tie in with Charlotte finding a polar bear in Africa. Has the island been moved before? If so did it move a polar bear to Africa? That would explain a lot.

I SPY A HURLEY NUMBER!
Did you catch it? The number on the bunny is 15!
Here is a hard one. The numbers 8 and 42 appear on the outside of the helicopter. Ever feel like you are playing Where is Waldo?
There is a 4 and 8 on the fuel gauge on the helicopter.
This is a stretch. C4 explosive has a 4 in it.

WHAT DID HE SAY?
Sawyer told Kate to look in on his daughter just before jumping out of the helicopter.

ANSWERED QUESTIONS
So the guy in the coffin is Locke. It was just like Eko predicted. When he died he said you are next to Locke. Though this prophecy it would seem should have been carried out by the monster. Still, Locke did die. He is going under the alias Jeremy Bentham. Ben also used aliases as we saw on his many passports. Although it is tempting to think he used them every time he moved the island, I believe that moving the island is actually a very rare event. I do believe that it happened before though. It is more like Ben used the submarine to get off the island and visit other countries though for what purpose I do not know.

SO WHO DO YOU THINK SHOULD HANDLE THIS MELINDA OR ALLISON?
Hurley has now seen visions of both Charlie and Eko. Who else has he seen? What all did they tell him? Kate has seen Claire in a dream but as we have seen dreams are not just dreams in this show. Recall the dream of Claire. When the ghost of Christian tells Michael that he can go now he did not mean leave the boat. What he meant was that he could depart this life now. Remember when Michael first tried to blow up the boat a note appeared saying not yet.

LIAR LIAR
Why does the Oceanic Six tell the lie about what happened to them? I think this is clearly answered in this episode. Widmore and company are looking for that island. If and when they find it they will kill everyone on it. If the Oceanic Six tell what really happened then everyone in the world will want to find that island. This would put the other survivors at great risk.

DESTINY
Locke the main of faith tells Jack that he is supposed to be on the island. Locke means that Jack was destined to be on the island and he has a purpose there. Locke tells Jack that he is lying to himself and maybe he is. In the flashforward Jack is all ready to return to the island. How did he say it to Kate? Oh yes, we have to go baaaaaaaack! Odd that Kate has not seen more visions of dead people beckoning her to return. Although the very much alive did appear to her. Locke informed both Kate and Jack that it was a mistake for them to leave the island. The destiny may have something to do with the Hurley numbers are Hurley used the numbers before coming to the island. And the numbers seem to haunt him everywhere he goes. Does the island influence how and where the numbers will appear?

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
Unanswered questions abound so I’ll just tackle a few here.
Why does Widmore want Ben alive so badly that he is willing to pay Keamy so much money? Why does he not just kill Ben?
What did Charlotte mean when she told Faraday that she was looking for the place she was born? Was she born on the island?
What happened to Faraday and the others in the boat? Were they eventually rescued or did they perish at sea?
What really happened to Jin? We never saw a body.
What have the ghost been saying to Hurley and Jack? Is it just come back to the island or is there more?
Who built the teleportation room? Is it an ancient room? There is what looks like ancient graffiti written on stones in the room. If DHARMA built it why the graffiti? And why build a wall to it so you could not get to it?
Why is it so cold in the teleportation room?
Why did the tape Locke was playing start running backwards? Was this just an old tape going bad or was there something more to it?
Why do the Oceanic Six and Locke have to go back to the island? What possible difference could they make? They did not seem to influence major happenings on the island that much. Ben and his people were much more responsible for disposing of Keamy and his men. Of what possible use is the dead body of Locke
Where is Mikail?
If Aaron is not supposed to be raised by another then why does Claire so willingly abandon her baby? And why would Claire tell Kate not to bring Aaron back to the island knowing this ominous warning?
Is Claire dead?
How did mister ghost whisperer know that Charlotte had been to the island before? Did a ghost tell him? Did Widmore send Charlotte to the island before or did she find the island and tell Widmore?

WHAT TO WATCH FOR NEXT SEASON
The death scene of Locke. He was most likely killed by Widmore agents.
Locke appearing as a vision like Charlie and Christian.
The explanation of the smokey monster
What happens to the island after it moves and what happens to the LOSTaways still on the island.
The return of the Oceanic Six to the island. Look for this in a season finale.
The timeline to coincide so that flashforwards will not be necessary.

I don't think I can handle waiting 8 months for next season...I KNOW I'm gonna have withdrawls... ;)

Has the island been moved before?

I've been watching the second season again and there's an episode where the shattering noise and blinding white light occur again exactly as when the island moved in the fourth season.

When I watched the show the first time I didn't understand what that meant. But it seems like the island moved late in the second season, and perhaps that's what permitted all the time-traveling of people like Jack's dad.

Nice job.
I do not think Locke is dead - looks like it, he is not.
Good call with Saywer/daughter.
Eight months - way too long.
hula.com has all the episodes, I may just watch the whole series over from the beginning.

Was that when Desmond turned the key? I wonder if the Swan station's real purpose was to keep the island from moving? Possibly, the 108 minute dead-man switch was to make sure if someone found the island and disrupted the residents, that it would move (through time?) and keep the island safely hidden.

I think it was a stretch. Why did the rest of the Oceanic Six just accept Jack telling them to lie? Wouldn't Hurley or Kate or Sayid or especially Sun want the truth told, even if it wasn't quite the whole truth? If they had put in a little bit of an argument I would have been far more satisfied--at least have someone ask "Why? The island isn't even there anymore."

You all need help. So here:

There is no such thing as destiny. The Island calls people who have interacted in the future (probably on the Island or due to other time distortion loci on earth) and must get back together for time to be reconciled. This is why ALL the Six must return. Their future selves are intertwined and must finish their interactions or there will be a time rift.

Ben and Widmore are each other’s constants. If either killed the other the survivor would go mad or descend into a time vortex/black hole.. This is evidence that Widmore has his own time manipulation device.

The Island doesn’t move. It just shifts its local time.

I see no real evidence for teleportation. The Polar Bear in Africa was the artifact of another Darma group.

Hugo is a special character because like Miles he possesses supernatural mental abilities. He taps into knowledge that Ben has to use technology to access.

Jacob invented the technology and keeps himself in perpetual omnipresence and has absolute power over the island. He may be in fact physically dead but as in chess has played the game an infinite number of ways in future time dimensions and has anticipated nearly every possible move. After all .... the cabin has no constant local. It exists in its own time/dimension.

There. Does that help?

Widmore is a time traveler. He has his own device. Ben is in control of the only other device not controlled by Widmore. If Widmore can kill some or all of the Oceanic Six OR those left on the island it will cause an irreparable rift in Ben’s time bubble/localized shifted dimension and destroy it ... and Ben.

I'm still not sure why one time traveler would want to destroy another. There has to be some other motive than pure power.

I see no real evidence for teleportation.

Ben showing up in a desert in the Middle East wearing a snow parka doesn't count as evidence?

I think Ben is interfering with Widmore’s efforts. Blocking him. Or perhaps there can be only one truly or fully functional vortex or loci on the planet at one time. Or Ben has the more powerful device powered by the larger amount of anti-matter and Widmore can never get control of it without capturing Ben.
