The LOST Report

My Serious, Logical Thoughts on Theres No Place Like Home Parts 2 and 3

Welcome to Theres No Place Like Home Parts two and three

TITLE
Same as before. A Wizard of Oz quote.

HOW EXOTIC
The video mentions that the teleportation device uses exotic matter. Exotic matter is not made of the stuff that you and I encounter on a daily basis. Things we touch and look at are made of baryonic matter. You can think of this as regular matter if you’d like. Baryonic matter is made of protons and neutrons. Exotic matter is not. One example of exotic matter is a tiny particle called a neutrino. This nearly massless particle can travel at speeds near the speed of light. Scientists do not know what all exotic matter exists in the universe because exotic matter cannot be detected by telescopes. You can’t see it.
Notice the scene near the end where Ben moves the island ties in nicely with the episode the shape of things to come where Ben ends up in the desert in Africa. Ben is lying in the desert wearing the same Parka as he wears in this episode. Now we know the rest of the story. Notice also the date when Ben arrives in Africa is October 24, 2005. This is near a year after he moved the island so Ben was transported forward in time almost a year. Ben did mention a time traveling bunny before he left. Also if you watch the mine episodes at ABC.com there is one about the time traveling bunny and the making of the video Locke watches in this episode. For those of you who have not seen it. The bunny appears in the room while they are filming the video! Edgar Haliwax is also holding the bunny so there are two of the same bunny in the room. After Ben moved the island the consequences Ben mentioned to John come to pass and Ben is teleported to Africa. Also when Ben arrives at the hotel there he asks what the date is.
This also may tie in with Charlotte finding a polar bear in Africa. Has the island been moved before? If so did it move a polar bear to Africa? That would explain a lot.

I SPY A HURLEY NUMBER!
Did you catch it? The number on the bunny is 15!
Here is a hard one. The numbers 8 and 42 appear on the outside of the helicopter. Ever feel like you are playing Where is Waldo?
There is a 4 and 8 on the fuel gauge on the helicopter.
This is a stretch. C4 explosive has a 4 in it.

WHAT DID HE SAY?
Sawyer told Kate to look in on his daughter just before jumping out of the helicopter.

ANSWERED QUESTIONS
So the guy in the coffin is Locke. It was just like Eko predicted. When he died he said you are next to Locke. Though this prophecy it would seem should have been carried out by the monster. Still, Locke did die. He is going under the alias Jeremy Bentham. Ben also used aliases as we saw on his many passports. Although it is tempting to think he used them every time he moved the island, I believe that moving the island is actually a very rare event. I do believe that it happened before though. It is more like Ben used the submarine to get off the island and visit other countries though for what purpose I do not know.

SO WHO DO YOU THINK SHOULD HANDLE THIS MELINDA OR ALLISON?
Hurley has now seen visions of both Charlie and Eko. Who else has he seen? What all did they tell him? Kate has seen Claire in a dream but as we have seen dreams are not just dreams in this show. Recall the dream of Claire. When the ghost of Christian tells Michael that he can go now he did not mean leave the boat. What he meant was that he could depart this life now. Remember when Michael first tried to blow up the boat a note appeared saying not yet.

LIAR LIAR
Why does the Oceanic Six tell the lie about what happened to them? I think this is clearly answered in this episode. Widmore and company are looking for that island. If and when they find it they will kill everyone on it. If the Oceanic Six tell what really happened then everyone in the world will want to find that island. This would put the other survivors at great risk.

DESTINY
Locke the main of faith tells Jack that he is supposed to be on the island. Locke means that Jack was destined to be on the island and he has a purpose there. Locke tells Jack that he is lying to himself and maybe he is. In the flashforward Jack is all ready to return to the island. How did he say it to Kate? Oh yes, we have to go baaaaaaaack! Odd that Kate has not seen more visions of dead people beckoning her to return. Although the very much alive did appear to her. Locke informed both Kate and Jack that it was a mistake for them to leave the island. The destiny may have something to do with the Hurley numbers are Hurley used the numbers before coming to the island. And the numbers seem to haunt him everywhere he goes. Does the island influence how and where the numbers will appear?

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
Unanswered questions abound so I’ll just tackle a few here.
Why does Widmore want Ben alive so badly that he is willing to pay Keamy so much money? Why does he not just kill Ben?
What did Charlotte mean when she told Faraday that she was looking for the place she was born? Was she born on the island?
What happened to Faraday and the others in the boat? Were they eventually rescued or did they perish at sea?
What really happened to Jin? We never saw a body.
What have the ghost been saying to Hurley and Jack? Is it just come back to the island or is there more?
Who built the teleportation room? Is it an ancient room? There is what looks like ancient graffiti written on stones in the room. If DHARMA built it why the graffiti? And why build a wall to it so you could not get to it?
Why is it so cold in the teleportation room?
Why did the tape Locke was playing start running backwards? Was this just an old tape going bad or was there something more to it?
Why do the Oceanic Six and Locke have to go back to the island? What possible difference could they make? They did not seem to influence major happenings on the island that much. Ben and his people were much more responsible for disposing of Keamy and his men. Of what possible use is the dead body of Locke
Where is Mikail?
If Aaron is not supposed to be raised by another then why does Claire so willingly abandon her baby? And why would Claire tell Kate not to bring Aaron back to the island knowing this ominous warning?
Is Claire dead?
How did mister ghost whisperer know that Charlotte had been to the island before? Did a ghost tell him? Did Widmore send Charlotte to the island before or did she find the island and tell Widmore?

WHAT TO WATCH FOR NEXT SEASON
The death scene of Locke. He was most likely killed by Widmore agents.
Locke appearing as a vision like Charlie and Christian.
The explanation of the smokey monster
What happens to the island after it moves and what happens to the LOSTaways still on the island.
The return of the Oceanic Six to the island. Look for this in a season finale.
The timeline to coincide so that flashforwards will not be necessary.

I don't think I can handle waiting 8 months for next season...I KNOW I'm gonna have withdrawls... ;)

Has the island been moved before?

I've been watching the second season again and there's an episode where the shattering noise and blinding white light occur again exactly as when the island moved in the fourth season.

When I watched the show the first time I didn't understand what that meant. But it seems like the island moved late in the second season, and perhaps that's what permitted all the time-traveling of people like Jack's dad.

Nice job.
I do not think Locke is dead - looks like it, he is not.
Good call with Saywer/daughter.
Eight months - way too long.
hula.com has all the episodes, I may just watch the whole series over from the beginning.

Why does the Oceanic Six tell the lie about what happened to them? I think this is clearly answered in this episode.

I think it was a stretch. Why did the rest of the Oceanic Six just accept Jack telling them to lie? Wouldn't Hurley or Kate or Sayid or especially Sun want the truth told, even if it wasn't quite the whole truth? If they had put in a little bit of an argument I would have been far more satisfied--at least have someone ask "Why? The island isn't even there anymore."
