I wondered how you chose your nickname, or even your tagline. I enjoy reading the wide variety of names and taglines, as well as some home pages. FReepers are very creative, and smart. I've learned a lot here!

It should be obvious. I love the Original Star Trek series and the Original Enterprise. Looks kinda hokey now when put up against the later versions. Still, it's my favorite.

You can get the general idea by clicking on my FReeper homepage, and taking a gander at the pic on the top.
I stole that from a long-gone crevo thread, as it is so much better looking than the actual cat (don't tell her I said that, btw...)
Cheers!

John Sperling Hooton enlisted in 19th Louisiana Infantry in March 1863 at age 38 (leaving a wife and six children behind), active duty until January 1865, received 60 days furlough along with several thousand other Rebels no longer fit to fight, died at an unknown location sometime before Kirby Smith surrendered. He was my great grandfather. He never owned a slave and probably didn’t even know anyone who did.

I like the song — it comes close to describing a few years of my life. It reminds me of long rides in the desert, in my Fiat Spider convertible with the top down, under the stars, in altered states. For some reason, the Hotel California always evokes images of the Casa Del Zorro, outside of Borrego Springs.

yes, drive by it almost daily

I guess my “shy” reply is not so hard to guess:
I love flying and the sky.
Thank you though, this is a “great to meet everyone” thread.

Mine came from a late night Dungeons and Dragons game way back in the early eighties. I had to think of a name quick and it just popped into my head, and there doesn't seem to be too many people who use it so if you see it anywhere else on the internet there is a good chance it's me.
The tagline is pretty much self-explanatory....

I bet you are right about the timeframe. There weren’t any cars in the pictures to date them, just that grainy black and white snapshot film.

Interesting! My g-g-grandfather was in the 22nd Wisconsin Regiment. I wonder if there’s a picture of the regimental flag anywhere. You’re obviously involved in genealogy too.

I thought of it being near Palm Springs, not so far away. My b-i-l comes from the Imperial Valley. The place has an interesting mystique.
