I'm already thinking that I might like to have a gas/plug-in electric hybrid next time around. ;o)
He’s good in the house now. I think he just sleeps.
The orange truck broke down here yesterday and was left by the drive...and then I guess they were either trying to get it started and/or doing something to tow it. It looked like the towing involved rope rather than chains. Ungh. I decided I didn’t want to watch too closely...
LOL! It really is close!
I wanna touch it...looks very soft.
I’m *almost* thinking about looking seriously at used Hyundai’s and such. From what I can tell, they may not be worth as much used as Toyotas and Hondas are, but their depreciation isn’t *that* bad, taken as a percentage. And when I can buy a two year old Hyundai with 20k miles on it for the same amount I’d spend on an eight year old Toyota with 90k...well...ya know, it makes you think. Especially as the newer one has some warranty left.
I’m at least going to do some reading.
The “learning curve” of Hyundai in terms of quality control has been remarkable, quoting a mechanic friend of ours who rebuilds and modifies Hondas as a hobby. We weren’t concerned about resale, ‘cause we’ll keep our Tucson for a good long time, but there are some good deals out there on Hyundai’s. My dad loves his Hyundai Sonata.
We rented a Hyundai Sonata once, and it was a very comfortable car! Do keep them in mind, Rosie. As OB said, they’ve gotten a lot better over the years, so if you’re looking at one that’s only a couple of years old, that means it’s probably one of the better quality ones.
Evenin’. Was I missed?
Dinner last night was less bad than expected. Especially since the power went out during dinner and when the kids started getting rowdy (mine included) they decided to go on back to the hotel where there was electricity.
Power came back on this afternoon around 4:30. In the process we realized the first downside of converting to Verizon. The phone has a battery backup, but it must be installed near a power source and must be under cover. So we just had them put it behind the desk.
Around 4:30 a.m. (actually 5:30) it decided to tell us it was on battery power by beeping...about every 30 seconds. We couldn’t find a way to shut it off. We’ll be calling Verizon in the a.m.
Spent the afternoon with brother-in-law. We put new brakes on thetruck and changed all the fluids and filters. Cost me about $220. With the brakes, the dealer would have charged somewhere in the $900 range. I owe my brother-in-law lots of adult beverages.
Nana is a ~little~ better. Doctor says to hold the room and that as soon as she’s back to eating and drinking she can go back. But he also asked Mrs. about a feeding tube.
My favorite lines:
1. "Fascist!"
2. "Hag!"
3. "Yaaarp."
4. "Swan!"
Brilliant!
Evening Corin - yes, you were missed. No power = candlelight dinner and send the young ‘uns outside to run around with flashlights. :-)
Glad you had the brakes fixed and saved some money, having brakes is a very good thing, saving money even better, spending quality time with brother-in-law consuming adult beverages - priceless.
I don’t plan on selling until it’s pretty well worn out, so...well...it’s very tempting. I could get a right nice vehicle for half what I’d pay for a Toyota or Honda.
I *would* have to endure the wrath of Ms. Honda at work, though. ;-)
I looked at a few Elantras this morning, but didn’t drive. Those ones are sized about like my old Corolla. I sat behind the wheel, and it felt rather tiny...but then, so would the Corolla now. Even Accords and Camrys feel tiny right now, coming from the van.
Yep. It’s just a dang FUN movie!
LOL, know what you mean. I kept my first car 15 years, and my second car, 19 years.

SirKit took his truck in for the state inspection the other day. It needs an oil change, but the folks wanted $200 to do it. This is the BAT (BigA$$Truck) and it takes 5 gallons of oil to fill it up! SirKit is going to do it himself, since there is so much room under the truck to move around, and will cost him less than $100 to do.
Little cars are fun though :)
The company left around 3. Time change day is a bad, bad day for having people playing Apples to Apples until 2 am. Ugh. Still sleepy.
Been spending all evening setting up a wiki for us so Talon can lay out his story universe.
*sigh*
In other newz...I cannot for the life of me locate my cell phone. And the last time I *know* I used it, I was over an hour away from here. And if I lost it there, it almost certainly got dropped in a road / parking area and is probably dead.
I’m trying not to throw things.
Yeah, we had really high winds, mostly yesterday afternoon. I figure somewhere a line or poll was blown down. Never heard what the problem was.
I never really learned to take care of cars (long story I think I’ve shared before). I can do the basics, but usually opt not to.
Brother-in-law thrives on doing this stuff and considers it therapy. And his dad is the same way. They’ve got a garage (actually his dad’s garage) with all the tools and equipment we’d need for just about anything. So that helps.
I’ve tried to encourage Jr. to spend more time with b-i-l. He’s willing to teach Jr. But he’s not going to beg him to come over.
Sure...but I think it’s dropped somewhere. :-\
If it is...I may go without for awhile until I can find a super cheap used one. It ticks me off. I’m not irresponsible like that.
But I *am* a slob. So it could be here somewhere...
ACK! Never mind...someone found it. Got an e-mail.
I’m such an idiot...
