The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

The pizza’s been ordered... should be here about 6:45.

I don't know if you've seen it, but you can browse forums for comments again. After you choose the forum on the right side, you choose one of the new tabs on the top for articles, active articles, or comments within the forum. The appearance needs a little cleaning up, but I Iike the new functionality.

Yeah, I see it! It’s not bad.
Personally, I still wish there was a preferences option to make comments your default view, and maybe they’ll do that eventually...but at least it’s there now.

Somewhere, my love,
There will be songs to sing
Although the snow
Covers the hope of spring.
Somewhere a hill
Blossoms in green and gold
And there are dreams
All that your heart can hold.
Someday we’ll meet again, my love.
Someday whenever the spring breaks through.
You’ll come to me
Out of the long ago,
Warm as the wind,
Soft as the kiss of snow.
Till then, my sweet,
Think of me now and then.
God, speed my love
‘Til you are mine again.
..... good episode.

Okay, did anybody catch
the name of the Philip K. Dick book that Ben was reading? I haven't read his work, but could it have been "The Crack in Space"? You know it's significant.

I’ve never watched Lost, but we saw the premiere of “New Amsterdam” this week, and wow was that good! The premise will make for some interesting story lines along the way. I think the one we saw Tuesday night was the pilot, and the regular show was on tonight. I DVR’d it so SirKit and I could watch it later.

Anyone who watched tonight's episode of "Lost" should not click on
this link until after they watch the episode and read your spoiler font. ;-)

I have a prayer request for those who may be so inclined. SirKit has been doing some Math research while he's been on 'sabbatical' the last two years. What he's doing is actually pretty groundbreaking for the Math world, and he thinks he's close to a breakthrough on it. When he's finished, he'll send it to our math genius son to have him find any flaws in the argument. If there are none, SirKit will try to find a journal to publish the abstract.
Please pray for enlightenment for him so he can discern the path to follow to the correct end of this. He's extremely excited about it, but concerned that he might have made a mistake somewhere along the line that he can't see because he's looking too closely at it. ;o)
Thanks!

Math makes my brain short-circuit, but let’s hope SirKit gets published.
