The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

It’s an old car and cranky sometimes. It might just be dying.

Well, the weather may turn bad this evening...possibly more icy weather...

Think I’ll stock up on some food.

I’m hoping it will stay clear enough here tonight to see the eclipse. Luke will ~not~ be staying up for it.

Brush your teeth early.... he’s got the lid open on the pump house again.

He said he may have to replace the pump... $2000. He tells me how much everything costs around that place. He’s getting more bids.

Thanks. She said her neck hurts (and I made sure she stated that to the paramedics), but she’s okay. I told her to come home and take some Advil and if it didn’t get better she should have it checked out.

We’re hoping we’ll be able to see the eclipse, too! Don’t know how cloudy it will be tonight. We had a dusting of snow overnight, after all that cloudiness last night.

Heh...I have my teeth brushed, but I admit, I was flinching a little every time I turned on the faucet, afraid it wasn’t gonna come on...

I’m not paranoid, really I’m not.

Our weather says “partly cloudy” so we’ll see...or not.

Okay, I have a gadget-person question.

When I go to New Orleans we’re told that we need to be able to lock our suitcases (got that covered) and our backpacks that we’ll have with us every day on site. (phones, cameras, etc.)

I have a regular backpack, a messenger bag and a Jack Bauer type bag. But none of them are lockable.

Suggestions on what I could get? This will be my carry on as well.

This is just me being cheap...but couldn’t you just get a couple of mini padlocks and lock the zippers shut, since most bag openings have two zipper pulls with a hole through each?

Since a backpack is easy enough to steal as a whole, it doesn’t seem like it makes sense to put a whole lot of effort into locks...but that’s just me.

Yeah, after I posted that, I realized I could do that.

We have a team meeting tonight. I’ll ask them to be a little more clear about what they mean.

If possible, I plan to have my phone, camera and money on me all the time. But depending on what type of work we’re doing that may not be possible.

There are those TSA-approved locks for suitcases, that you can supposedly use when checking bags. Is that what you mean?

The more useful thing I would say would be a photagraphers vest or some nice cargo pants to hold all the stuff you don’t want away from your person.
Yeah, minipadlock is the only choise but why bother if it can just grow legs and walk off.

Yeah, I guess so. It’s not so much that I’m worried about locking while I’m traveling as while I’m there.

We’ll be doing grunge/contruction type work, so I don’t want to buy new stuff. I’m thinking a fanny pack or something just for the camera and phone.
