The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Our governor has a tan like that too.

I, on the other hand, love her books...so I’m pretty critical of the screen adaptations. But Pride and Prejudice is a masterpiece, IMO. It’s not the same as a two-hour movie, but I wouldn’t want it to be.

Heh...I think we pretty much watched it straight through when we got it, with brief food breaks. Brothers included. I guess we’re all a bunch of rather romantic and sentimental fools. ;-)

I was rather fond of Mr. Bennett’s sardonic comments.

I love her stuff too but Sense and Sensibility was a great adaptation. Even with that wimpy guy as Elinor’s love. Alan Rickman sort of stole the show every time he showed up though.

Roast squirrel....

If only Mike Huckabee had a grill, he'd be the nominee today.

I started taping “Pride and Prejudice” tonight, because I’ve never seen it.

AAACK! Glenn Beck "Bonnet Movie" Alert!

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Mostly they wore real hats, not so many bonnets....

Hey, I like movies with explosions but movies with hats can be nice too.

Ya know...I almost made a Huckabee joke when you mentioned the acorn shells in the first place, but I couldn’t think of the right way to say it...

Durn. I have to work today. I don’t wanna.

Yeah...and as we all know, men aren’t wearing enough hats! (Talon and a few like him excepted...)

Glenn Beck would still call it a "Bonnet Movie." He has a whole chapter in "An Inconvenient Book" about Bonnet Movies vs. Laser Movies.

Yes, but Glen Beck is a demagoging nitwit who sees even entertainment categories in black and white.

I hear him now and then on my way to work and I always shake my head. He constantly sounds like he’s about to start shooting up a post office.

I am either trying to start a trend or just making people driving behind my ‘88 Towncar think I am an old dude. It helps because when I want to change lanes in heavy traffic I just start drifting over and they assume I fell asleep and clear a hole instantly.
