The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

If this headache continues, I’m gonna have to give all that a try. I’m assuming it has to be sinus since it’s pressure around my nose and eyes, though I don’t have a stuffed up nose or a cold.

Mmm...someone made a big thing of cheese ravioli with pesto sauce for lunch. Tasty. And free. Good qualities in food...

Sounds like your upper sinuses are totally blocked up and the air is just going straight in your nose and down your windpipe.

When my sinuses were at their worst, I finally went to an allergist and he put me on special antibiotics and steroids for 2 months before they finally got cleared up for good. Apparently your normal 10 day to 2 week round of antibiotics that most regular doctors give you barely touches a serious sinus infection because it's so deep and firmly entrenched.

Ungh...I don’t wanna hafta go to a doctor!

I guess I’ll give this a few more days. I don’t have a fever or anything...just the headache. It’s makin’ me wish I could ram something through the roof of my mouth to relieve the pressure.

You tried alternating hot and cold compresses?

I don’t like to go to the doctor either. I’ve managed this week with Coricidin and other over the counter stuff.

But I have lost weight this week for the first time in months so no cheating :)

WooHoo! Well I can start back eating my veggies again! The Cardio guy said I could go off the Warfarin! He said my heart isn't back to full strength, but it's getting there. We celebrated at Bugaboo Creek Steak House. ;o)

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone.

We got some candy, some flowers, some wine and some steaks. Getting ready for dinner. Just finished my daily swim.

This year will be our 34th together for Jeanne and me. It was our 28th, the first post here on that first hobbit thread. With the NZ guy who built a hobbit hole.

Happy Valentine’s Day Sam!

Wow, that was back before backgammon and everything. Congrats on your 34th year.

I hope you’re both doing well.

...The Cardio guy said I could go off the Warfarin!...

I don't know if Coumadin is the same thing as Warfarin, but I heard on Paul Harvey this morning that the FDA had pulled all Coumadin off the shelves because of some contamination risk. Seems there have been lots of allergic reactions to it here lately and a few resultant deaths and they said something about the supplier of the main ingredient being China. So there's another reason to be glad you're not on it anymore!

Not yet...maybe I’ll give that a shot when I get home.

It’s strange, like I keep saying...I haven’t had a cold, don’t have a fever, don’t have any of the usual sinus symptoms. Just pressure and pain. :-\

Joseph made one last week with chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, frozen strawberries and fresh whipped cream. He wanted to do one with raspberries, but I don’t like the seeds, so I suggested the Black Forest. We already had the cherry pie filling and chocolate pudding, so he chose a triple chocolate cake mix, and we got some more heavy whipping cream. He likes cooking and making desserts, and we like it too. ;o)

Our church participates in a program twice a year to house homeless families. Families have to be either working or on their way (it’s a city-wide program). On one night the choir does dinner for them. Some ladies to an old-fashioned fried chicken meal. Mrs. always does dessert.

One of their favorites was the year she tried to make an Oreo-cake that had a lot of Cool-whip in the topping. It fell to pieces and she had no time to make another.

So,we grabbed a punch bowl and she shoveled it in.

She walked in the door and the women all exclaimed “It’s beautiful!”

(not to mention tasty)
