The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

It makes me very nervous for my 87-year old father, who refuses to use any of those 24-hour notification thingys; he says he’s not old enough to need ‘em. Okaaaaaay, dad.

Tell him that YOU'RE old enough for him to need a notification service. Tell him YOU don't need the added stress of worrying about him. Maybe that would fly. ;o)

Could you be thinking of armadillos? They can carry Hansen’s Diseasae...Leprosy but don’t actually get it.

It’s been a long time since we’ve told leprosy jokes on the thread.

Tell him YOU don't need the added stress of worrying about him.

Tried that, he said he's just paying me back for all the years of stress we put him through. Who, me? Not a chance.

I don’t know, I didn’t read that far. I’ll have to research that some time and find out.

Oh yeah...at least once.

Maybe twice.

Hey Bear...when did we tell the leprosy jokes?

I remember telling that Hokie and Pokie joke to Hair...the one that went on and on...

Funny.

OK - so there is some rabies in bats here. Interesting... thanks! We do have a ton of bats... the barn you often see in the background of my pasture pictures is full of them, the guy said.

Might some local grocery bakeries have it, or a ‘decal’ they could put on a cake?

Not in the next 24 hours! ;-)

Be careful of those bats!! I think maybe Washington has a bigger lobby of animal protectionists that Missouri does. I’ve read several articles on how it is not good to give dogs these shots every year, but I don’t think it is a big enough issue in Missouri yet for anyone to mount an effective campaign.

Well, even that article said there was only one bat found in each of the counties listed and my county was not listed, so I’m not ~all~ that worried about it. They eat a lot of bugs!

Rabies is just not very common here. My vet said we are probably over-vaccinating for a lot of the diseases we are still vaccinating for, particularly rabies and distemper, when Parvo and feline leukemia are more common and lots of people don’t get those (particularly the second one)

(cue “Yesterday” music)

Leprosy
All my skin is falling off of me,
I’m not half the man I used to be
Oh, leprosy came...suddenly.

Suddenly
There is not a whole lot left of me,
Now my feet are where my knees should be
Oh, leprosy came...suddenly.

Why I have to rot
I know not
I’m growing thin.
I say something wrong
How I long for some new skin.

Leprosy
All my skin is falling off of me,
I’m not half the man I used to be
Oh, leprosy came...suddenly.

I don’t know if this is compatible with your printer, but I think they sell the stuff for this at the hobby store here...the frosting sheets and all..

http://www.kopykake.com/EpsonInks.html

Probably too late and you’re computer is down too...but maybe for future reference?

If I had the ink and frosting sheets, I could do this...I would scan the picture with my scanner then print the picture up on a frosting sheet.

I'm sure it would be if I could actually print right now (I could if I bothered to load the software into this laptop, I just haven't). But I've already ordered a generic (color appropriate) cake that'll do just fine.

That led me to type a rant about how much I've been doing today and why, etc. etc. etc. But I decided not to post it...
