Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

mmmm....numb...
BTW, I haven’t taken pictures of Abby yet, but I will. I won’t be able to post them though until I get the PC fixed.
I’ve got some stuff that’s worrying me lately but the appropriate doc can’t see me for three weeks. Ugh. So I’m going ahead and starting some big changes now - getting together a meal list for next week and we’re going low carb.
You’re bad...
Sam's Club will do that. But not with Mario because of copyright issues.
It's okay, I was mainly looking for some party favors for the treat bags. There's ~nothing~ out there...I did find some gold coins, but that's about it.
I had an interesting morning with Gypsy; she picked up ~something~ on our walk, took a couple of chews and spat it out. I had to see what in the world she would reject eating, and dang, if it wasn’t a dried bat carcass. I immediately turned her around and we walked to the vet. Since she is only 3 weeks from needing her booster shots, I went ahead and had her vaccinated. The vet offered to send the carcass off to see if it was rabid, but I wasn’t that intere$ted. I did go back, without Gypsy, to pick up the carcass and throw it in the trash.
Yikes. Could they get rabies from that? From eating a dead rabid animal even if they don’t get bitten?
It feels good. I’m not doing low carb exacly. Steve still is though and much of what is just “healthy eating” is low junk carbs.
And I am doing healthy eating. Making sure I get my proper amount of veggies, you know? I love spinach salads with boiled egg and tomatoes, a bit of cheddar cheese and maybe some chicken breast. Some avocado slices on the side.
Yup, the one time I lost real weight was doing low-carb and I’m suspecting that I really need low carb in order to lose. Also I want to feel good and have energy...
Vet said the chances were pretty slim, ‘cause the primary method of transmission is through a bite, unless Gypsy had some kind of a cut her mouth. I was pretty sure she didn’t, but she could have gotten a little rip from the carcass. And if Gypsy got rabies, we’d end up losing our dog, and have to take rabies shots to boot. So, it just made sense to go ahead and get the vaccinations.
Sure... seems like a good enough excuse to get the shots.
Interesting.
Ok...you have a clear understanding of Southern Baptist Churches. They have ministries for everything, right? Divorce Care ministry. Needy family ministry, children’s ministry, youth ministry, men’s ministry, women’s ministry, young family ministry...you know what I’m talking about.
Yesterday as we were driving home we passed by our church down the street. It sits on a busy street and there was a police officer monitoring traffic in the parking lot. As we drove by, Matthew commented “He must be there for the donut ministry.”
Last year when the city was considering revising the animal control ordinance, in terms of dangerous dogs, there was some talk of requiring rabies vacciations every three years instead of annually. The vets were against it because we still have rabies around here, in bats and other animals. A while ago I saw a bit ol’ oppossum waddling across the railroad right-of-way in broad daylight. Gyps and I went the other way, ‘cause possums, like vampires, shouldn’t be out in daylight.
We only do every three years for rabies here, on adult dogs. Multiple puppy boosters, then again at a year, then every three.
But there hasn’t been a case of rabies here in a long time.
I did not know that, I thought rabies were everywhere. So I googled up rabies, and came to a vet blog, where the AKC declared dog-to-dog rabies eradicated in 2007, but dogs can still get rabies from wildlife. Then I found out that oppossums do not get rabies, in fact, they cannot even be experimentally infected with rabies, and no one knows why. I love the internet, all kinds of information, you may or may not ever need.
Did you find anything on rabies by region? The last time I looked we hadn’t even had rabies found in bats and wildlife in a long time, and those were in eastern Wa.
Interesting about possums though... So I guess your possum friend was just lost... or had a long night.
Huh! Fascinating...I never knew that!
I thought they did not ‘get it’ but could carry it. Maybe I am thinking of some other critter.
Which is why I'll now have at least minimal rescue/entry tools in every vehicle I drive. The cops were well-equipped with SiGs and tasers, but no pry bar. Oh, and their pocket flashlights were nowhere near as good as the ones the Hobbit Hole gave away to the troops. And this was in an old-money wealthy suburb.
Hmmm. I thought that Wilton made a cake pan that is the Mario character. Might some local grocery bakeries have it, or a ‘decal’ they could put on a cake?
