The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Halvah, exercising strenuously:

It don't look vey comfortable to me...but that's Halvah for ya! She'd lock her feet like that and sleep there peaceful as can be.

Don’t forget appropriate storage containers and Magazines, high quality large capacity if your favorite fiream can use them.

And my new campaign: springs. I just ordered a batch of Wolfe extra-strength springs for M1911 magazines. And some new Wolfe extra-strength sear springs. Stuff that is now as common as dirt could become hard to find. Plus, springs, in my opinion, are the one weak link in otherwise world-class firearms designs. It's just the nature of the spring beast.

I came across a source for aftermarket magazine springs for the PS90. The manufacturer claims they offer superior performance, and won't take a set when loaded for a long time. The nice thing is, the springs are wound in the opposite direction, so I can hold the mags up to the light and tell which is which.

So I now have spare springs for a super-exotic magazine, and a test to see which spring performs better after being fully loaded for a year.

If I have any doubts about an old magazine spring, I cut it in half and throw it away.

There sure are a lot of rearrange-the-deck-chairs-before-we-hit-the-iceberg threads out there.

I mean, I’m not happy with where this is going, but it’s a ~little~ premature to start talking about 2012.

Yah...and those are the folks that think they’re being positive.

There are also a lot of “The sky is falling! We’re all gonna DIE!!!!” posts.

Speaking of the sky falling... Are you aware of the High Wind Advisory for late tonight/tomorrow? If it pans out it holds the potential for power outages. Would behoove you to know where your flashlights are and have some water on hand.

Thanks for the warning! I’d kind of forgotten. Got some water...will stock more and make sure the flashlights are at hand.

I really like my little emergency light, by the way! Those are really worth having.

You know, the reason the Titanic sank was because they tried to avoid the iceberg. If they’d hit head on they’d have been fine, but instead it scraped along the side and opened multiple waterproof compartments and doomed the ship.

So maybe full steam ahead is the best plan?
