Trail of blood apparently led escaped tiger to victims
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Dec 27, 2007 | Kevin Fagen, Jaxon Van Derbeken, Steve Rubenstein, Cecila Vega

San Francisco police are investigating the possibility that one of the victims in the fatal tiger mauling on Christmas Day climbed over a waist-high fence and then dangled a leg or other body part over the edge of a moat that kept the big cat away from the public, sources close to the investigation said Wednesday.

Too bad the cops had to shoot the cat instead of the idiot visitors.

What's at work here is a judgment by humans that the tiger was not at fault ~ rather, the keeper made a mistake and precipitated the event.

That particular judgment is totally devoid of what the event meant to the cat and how it affected her.

Now we know that she discovered that the humans come apart just like a joint of goat, and we see where that route takes her!

That's true, even in San Francisco.

On a related note, if it were possible to buy stock in the .40 caliber this would be a good time to do it. Sales of that caliber are going to skyrocket now.

Lessons learned: Don’t piss off the tiger.

From the article regarding the arm incident: "The tiger was acting like a normal tiger".

So....

Besides, a tiger probably cost a pretty penny.

Doesn’t matter. SOP usually means when an animal attacks a human, the animal gets put down.

Mindlessly putting down wild animals for being wild animals is fairly stupid and I for one am impressed that they didn't. I'm only sorry it came to that after this incident, not that I blame the police, I don't. It's just a shame it ended this way for a very beautiful and magnificent tiger.

Yes, they will skyrocket.

I have a friend that has two .40 Glocks. Great handguns.

Agreed. It was in a zoo, supposedly a safe environment. I just remembered that there is a sign at the Colorado Springs zoo that states “No Guns”...

That means me and my kids and grandkids won’t be going to the zoo no mo’ either.

If I want them to see wild animals, I’ll show them real wild animals in the wilds. And I’ll be armed.

My thoughts from day one ,either Hispanic/Mexican gang members, or to much “Jack -Ass” style TV viewing. If they are gang members , sorry the tiger didn’t finish job.If they are “Jack-ass” , imitators, sorry the tiger didn’t finish the job.Either way, the survivors will be a legal and economic burden on the rest of us.

"The main question to ask is why this tiger was not put down a year ago when it nearly tore the arm off a zoo keeper?"

You'd pretty much have to put down every big cat, wolf, bear, et cetera if you were do adopt that stance. Most zoo animals are dangerous, which is why we keep them segregated from the public.

The dead kid's parents say they don't know the two brothers...

This is very weird.

19 year old? guy chooses to travel with two people
his parents don't know the two people
they travel fifty miles to a zoo on Christmas Day
the 19? yr old ends up eaten by Tiger.

Something is up w/ the brothers with whom the dead guy traveled with IMO.

Apparently, the zoo closes at 5, but people who are already inside are allowed until six to leave. So, if you wanted to do something with the tigers, what better time then after the zoo closes on the one day when it's going to be the least crowded. Add to that the sticks and stones in the moat. Add to that the initial attack happened right outside the tiger's lair and a bloody shoe actually inside the moat.

Don’t lions/tigers, etc. naturally have an instinct to attack people or other animals? Why do you want to kill something that actually lives it’s life the way God intended? Pretty severe to kill something when it is born to act that way. Especially when you put it in a cage that probably makes it more insane.

I must not be as smart as you because I read your post three times and it still makes no sense to me. What exactly does this mean, "That particular judgment is totally devoid of what the event meant to the cat and how it affected her."

The tiger is simply following it's nature. It is a hunter. It sees a food source and eats it. It doesn't get much more complicated than that. When you throw humans into the mix, that's when the tiger gets the shaft. These animals kill the young of a pride when they enter it so theirs will be the only traits to be passed on. Instinct. If humans were involved, they would have to attend a sensitivity seminar to understand how the cubs feel when their necks are snapped.
