**Ladies and Gentlemen...it's the FR College Football 2007-08 Bowl Games Thread**

Posted on 12/19/2007 1:19:19 PM PST by GOP_Raider

It's the most wonderful time of the year...With my Utes winning bowl games and BYU losing so I'll be of good cheer...it's the most wonderful time of the year...

--Ow! Tomatoes hurt you know. Sheesh...

During the regular season, I would normally do my fancy and mildly humorous graphical elements and those of you who would like me to feature their school's games, I would oblige. However, since we've got miles to go before we sleep, I'll re-ping the list as we go along and include said graphics. Sound like a deal? Excellent.

Tomorrow the fun will begin. (For me, at least). :)

By giving it a ridiculous name like "Chick fil a bowl". That's an awfully good start. I agree with your first statement, the best thing is to just call it something like "The Sugar Bowl". Or even something like "The Cherry Bowl, sponsored by Frigidaire". I don't have a big problem with "The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl".

But "The Chick fil a bowl"? That's absolutely cheesy. It's almost evil, like Lex Luthor's lackey Otis naming a town on a map after the world has been blown up by Lex Luthor Otisburg. I'll never eat a chick fil a for that reason alone. I hate their waffle fries too, anyway. I tried them once.

I like Chick-Fil-A’s advertising. But I’ll agree with you about the bowl renaming biz. Dumb move.

The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl sort of goes together. When you think of fiestas, you think of tortilla chips and salsa. But when you think of sugar, do you think of Nokia??? What is Nokia, anyway? (I don’t even know if they’re the sponsor.)

I've eaten at Chick-Fil-A and they actually have really good fast food.

As for the bowl game, I wouldn't be surprised that it becomes a pretty good game, because both Auburn and Clemson could use this bowl game to "test" a lot of new players and plays for next season.

And this is the most blatantly anti-FSU officiating I’ve seen, it SHOULD be 28-14 FSU, not 21-14 UK. It’s making me sick, I’ve counted no less than 6 BLATANT bad calls, including that last roughing the punter that wasn’t (called).

I’m glad I’ve already eaten.

Air Force isn’t in the WAC anymore. :)

And the Falcons blew the MWC’s chance at a 5-0 bowl record this year. Grrrrr....

Nokia is a cell phone company, and now that you mention it I think they are the sponsors of The Sugar Bowl. "The Nokia Sugar Bowl"... not so bad.

Happy New Year to all, and to all a good night.

The only way I've ever heard of Chick-fil-A was the Peach/Chick-Fil-A Bowl and there was a Chick-fil-A where I went to high school. I wasn't sure how they stayed in business since I never knew anybody that ate there.

Then I moved to Reno and had the experience of El Pollo Loco. It's halfway decent if you ignore the fact it's called El Pollo Loco. :)

I’ve seen El Pollo Locos around here, but we’ve never sampled any. I’m reluctant to go places where they might not speak English. :) Actually, hubby and I have been adventurous a time or two and visited some local taco shops and such. We figure out what everything is and order accordingly. Good Mexican food is good Mexican food. (we’ve never stopped to have a side-of-the-road hot dog, but we’re told they are very, very good.)

The menu looks good. We’ll have to try it. Will they get a bowl game one day? The El Pollo Loco Bowl????

Yeah, I was disappointed about Air Force losing. I root for the military academies whenever they go to a bowl game.

(ducking knowing you are a Utah fan)...

Yeah, I brainfarted that one. Have to give Fla St props, Despite being woefully under-manned, they played thier hearts out against Kentucky.

Results so far today:

Cal 42 Air Force 36
Fresno St. 40 Ga Tech 28
Oregon 56 South Florida 21
Kentucky 35 Fla St 28

In progress, Oklahoma St is absolutely mauling Indiana 35-10, and Auburn is up on Clemson 3-0 after 1 period.

Been a very good day for the Pac-10, couldbe a good day for the SEC and a very bad day for the ACC.

LOL, Air Force gives us fits in football, but it’s worse in basketball because they tend to get more than their fair share of charging calls and illegal screens.

I do wish Utah had a hockey program though, since I love watching college hockey.

Halftime score : Clemson 7 Auburn 3.

Auburn Defense has controlled Clemson except for one poor tackling play that resulted in a 83 yard TD run. On offense however Auburn looks terrible -- you have a team that has spent the last 3 years running a standard I formation Pro style offense, and they are now trying to run a spread offense under a new OC that they have had a whole 10 days to practice -- and it shows.

The only other game still going is a total manhandling of Indiana by Oklahome State - now 42-17 early in the 4th period.

INdiana is trying to make the score at least look respectable — after scoring a late TD they are once again inside the Oklahoma State Red Zone. But still 42-24 Ok St with 4 min left.

They just gave Lloyd Carr the Bobby Dodd Coach Of The Year Award at halftime of the Chicks-Fil-A Bowl. Lloyd Carr? You got to be kidding me. He lost 4 games and he's a pompous *** on the sideline halftime interviews.

BTW Happy New Years Raider!!!!!

****The only way I've ever heard of Chick-fil-A was the Peach/Chick-Fil-A Bowl and there was a Chick-fil-A where I went to high school.*****

They're popular in the south. They are closed on sunday's and the owner is a devout christian. Years ago when I had a roomate he worked at chick-fil-a and since I paid the cable bill and he paid the phone bill he usually owed me a few bucks. So I told him he could pay me in chick-fil-a biscuits. Yum Yum!

You gotta be kidding me. I was watching the Utah/Gonzaga basketball game so I ended up missing that portion of the Chick-Fil-A Bowl...but Carr? That's just amazing to me.

Who won the Utah-Gonzaga basketball game? I saw a little bit of it but I missed the end.
