Man I hated Quantam Leap...he’s in the body of a [insert percieved underclass here]! Alright audience, Empathize!
In the jargon of Hollywood, it's "Quantum Leap" meets "Sliders".
He was great in Trainspotting too.
In all honesty, does it really matter that they are cancelling these shows? It’s not like they were coming back anytime soon, with the writer’s strike going on.
LOL! Perfect summary. And, of course, Scott Bakula’s acting chops didn’t help matters.
50,000 pounds of nuts is getting Jericho back on the air - at least for a shortened season.
Okay, a bit more of a synopsis. Dan Vasser is a reporter who gets pulled back in time to influence a life that somehow needs to be fixed. He jumps into key points in the person’s life to make a difference, but he has to figure out what he’s supposed to do or say to make that difference.
I’ve enjoyed the show, especially when he sees some subtle and not-so-subtle changes on his return, kind of like the Simpson’s episode with the time travel toaster.
Sometimes it takes a little time for a show to find an audience. “Cheers” is a perfect example. Even though ratings sucked, cancelling it would have been a bad decision.
I Like this idea of yours for a new show. “Battle of the Choirs” Would this be a indoor event with completions like pew jumping and back flips down the center aisle. The Blues Brother thing. Or would it be more like a rugby match.
This is an exact reason to blame the suits. They had Star Trek which was a license to print money, and they just discarded it. If a show is good, it should find an audience.
"Daisies" problem is that it's an expensive show to make. This is becoming a problem lately, with huge sums being pumped into pilots to make them look amazing, followed by the discovery that you can't repeat that look every week without making the show cost-prohibitive. If those shows do anything less than top-10 ratings, with the commensurate premium on ad time, they don't make sense to keep making.
Bring back “BJ and the Bear”!!!
I watched all of the episodes of Jericho so far - I loved it!!!
And unfortunately that actually does the show a disservice.
But Star Trek wasn’t a license to print money at the beginning. When it started it was an expensive show with crappy ratings, 40 years ago nobody knew Star Trek would find it’s audience 5 years after it got canceled. It’s nice to say that a show “should” find rating, but when you’re the guy writing 6 and 7 digit checks every week to keep a show on the air “should” doesn’t cut it, you need a show to have already found it’s audience. And it’s even more true today than it was before, the pie is cut thinner than ever, most of the networks (especially NBC) don’t have the big hit shows making enough money to keep a couple of experiments around. They need every episode of every show to be profitable, they no longer live in a world of letting Cosby make enough money to keep Cheers around and see if it catches.
I was gonna drop Jericho at about episode 4 or 5 cause I was tired of the "Super Jake" show. Glad I stuck with it though, it got good towards the end.
Yea I sent a few pounds of nuts in myself.
Yeah, that’s why I think it’s on the bubble. It’s clearly getting OK numbers for most shows (it’s fallen to better than Journeyman started), but it is a bit pricey. The good news on the show though is I think most of the costs are 1 shot, having built the expensive sets further seasons should be a little cheaper. Only time will tell. The whole year is up for grabs, nobody is getting the numbers they want with anything, the writers are on strike, the actors soon will be, the directors shortly after that. There’s the distinct possibility of the suits bailing on the whole year except for one or two top drawers shows on each network.
I didn’t think the show was any good really ...
Should be fought with automatic weapons.
Pushing Daisies was ranked as one of the top ten shows. I would be quite surprised to see it go. It will be back after the first of the year as far as I know.
