Joe, do you maintain a FL ping list?
A Sheriff’s spokesperson just made a comment that “If you help someone escape, you are just as guilty as the other person. We will hunt you down just like we will hunt down someone who shoots one of our deputies and justice will be served”.
I think I got the quote exact.
I think it is great they will “hunt them down”. But, do we always have to make it a major-capital-crime-worse-than someone else’s murder or shooting when a Cop is shot?
I mean, it’s wrong to shoot a cop, granted, but they are doing a job they volunteered for. Definitely a “hero’s job”.
What about innocent people who aren’t doing those jobs who get murdered, or shot? Don’t they deserve the same “anger”?
I think they do
This is in Hollywood Florida, which is south Broward county.
just announced that ALL broward schools locked down!
I’m sorry to hear this is hitting close to home for you.
However and unfortunately, we have had a rash of deputies shot here in FL this year.
Read any of my posts (and even my tag line) and you'll wuickly see that I am ANTI JBT, but very pro-LEO. Sounds like a contradiction, but it really isn't.
The justice for killign a LEO or a civi should be equally as swift and certain. The perp should get a fast trial right before his hanging. To hell with life sentences.
and prayers for the deputy and family

Its weird here in Broward lately, this county was always considered the more rational and safer of the two major ones down here in South Florida (Miami-Dade and Broward). But this is the third BSO Depurty shot this year. He is very, very critical.
The first time I heard the term ‘lockdown’ was when I taught ACCESS database class at our correctional center. It sits on the Missouri and when the fog rolls in, inmates are locked in their housing units because they are not visible in the yard as they cross to the classroom.
When the FBI took over at Waco, they changed terms to military to justify a military response. The ATF flew overhead shooting into the building on 2/28 when there were at least 40 children inside that commune but after the FBI took over it was not a commune anymore but a compound. Nearly 40% of the members (since the 1930’s) was minority but Koresh became a ‘white supremacist’.
Seeing classroom doors locked and parents not able to collect their children from the school in a time of crisis, one has to ask, who owns those kids? Parents or the govt.
An armed robber was lose in Omaha and a mom and dad holding their little infant were being interviewed. They had come to pick up their kindergarten child at a pre-arranged time for a family trip. They were incredulous that their child was not being released to them. Obviously the reporter and the parents standing in front of the school were not in any danger.
To the reporter and many today its just a ho-hum moment. We need to rethink these ideas. If you had a child at a private day-care down the street although they may have their door locked, they would let you inside.
I hope he recovers. And I’m glad your child is not close to the situation.
Oh, I am very pro law enforcement myself. Worked with them many years in one way or another. Have good friends on the local police forces. All of them are awesome guys. I’ve run into a couple with egotistical attitudes who’ve had to have talking to a few times.
I just think it is a bit arrogant of cops to scream bloody murder over the shooting of another cop, and NOT do the same over a normal, average citizen who has been shot, robbed, stabbed, raped, or murdered.
When it comes to “equality” all citizens have the same rights. we have the RIGHT to not be molested, or have crimes committed against us, that includes police officers. I certainly think they need to catch the guy and put him back in jail, and try him for attempted murder (I hope it doesn’t end up BEING murder for the sake of the officer and his family, and the police force there)... but, at the same time, I think the “righteous indignation” that police use when a “brother” (or sister) officer has been shot could be turned down a notch.
Or, turn it up a few notches when normal, average folks have mayhem committed against them as well.

Hey.. is that really your girlfriend’s husband’s license plate?
Florida is a Right to Carry state, right? With Shall Issue? I know they are big on CCW, let’s hope the cops DO get this guy before he robs someone else today, and winds up dead from a local citizen shooting his ass dead.
