No we cooked. Which means that I did about 20% and he did 80%. It was simple, just ham, my green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, corn and home made rolls. We had cookies for desert. Maybe next year I will feel like cooking a major meal. The best part of the day was when he took my stirring spoon away and said, "You. Recliner. Now."
He really is my best gift and I have so much to be thankful for this year.
(I know I sound sloppy and sentimental. It will pass I promise!)

Only saying what’s real, Bob.
You are, indeed, gifted, and I enjoy being one of your FRiends. It’s an on-going learning experience for me.

Here’s to “sloppy and sentimental.” May it NEVER “pass!”
I’m glad you have someone who loves you so dearly! Next year, your Christmas holiday will be much better, multiplied by the intervening months and shared experiences!
Eggnog to you both! (And heart-shaped things!)

Don’t know about fryers, but we’ve revised our modified “Weber system” and it’s looking a whole better — wire mesh baskets for the briquets appear to be leading to better burning, which was always the big problem in the past. (I made the baskets rather than pay Weber acce$$ory price$.)

"I made the baskets rather than pay Weber acce$$ory price$." You'll probably have to replace them prematurely, but the replacements will be just as easy and inexpensive.
And zinc is good for you, right?

I take zinc every day, and most likely in quantities that are “abnormal.” But only because I’M abnormal!
I prefer things that are “tried and true,” and not necessarily “factory-to-you.” A small, rectangular hibachi would suit me just fine, if I could find one.
These days, they’re as scarce as hen’s teeth.

I’ve seen those in stores but the prices are very high.

I doubt they get hot enough to vaporize zinc.

They were really inexpensive when they first came out. Then the round, shallow ones came out, then the big deep ones, then the Webers, then the smokers, and now there are the hugh gas grills that need a team and wagon to get it home.
I’ll just keep looking. One will turn up at the “right time,” I’m sure.

Yah...I know. My daughter and I started a conversation about health care, today. (She works in a sleep lab.)
I told her socialized medicine was the worst thing that could happen to this country, and she seems to think it’s the “answer.”
Impasse.

Yah, we won't go there.
My annoyance is that we have a small grill I think maybe like the one you're looking for, but it's back East due to the cost of shipping (I think that's what LoM said) -- it was a wedding present. She also has a valuable knife collection that she won't ship, and which of course we can't carry aboard planes anymore.
Guess we need to plan a driving tour of the country some year.

"Guess we need to plan a driving tour of the country some year." I've done that a few times. The memories you get are worth the expense, and any trouble you run into.
