Evening, DA82! How are things there in the far (to me) corner of the country?

Fine, thanks. It’s weird to look outside and see green, but this is Florida after all.

Not weird to see green here, but it’s all dark green this time of year.

No snowy-covered mountaintops?
The first year I moved here(2000)it was a bit strange to see palm trees at a time of year when I was used to storms and single-digit temperatures.

No snowy-covered mountaintops? Well, probably, but the rainy cloud-cover down lower doesn't let us see them often. Clear skies occur mostly in summer, not winter, in Seattle. If you want to see snow you usually have to drive up to the mountain passes...

I caught just a glimpse of the mountains today during the 15 minute break in the gloomy wets.
I officially finished my Christmas shopping at 4:03 this afternoon, an adventure that began at 9:00am. All that’s left is to wrap what I bought.
Whee!

Give or take. I haven't topped 95 pounds since my last pregnancy. I'm only five feet tall, though.
Just one of those things, I eat like a horse.

Do you have a pet snake? I've been thinking of getting one. I loved playing with garter snakes when I was a kid, and the boys are following in my footsteps.
Kevin can take them or leave them. He'd rather we get a snake than a Tarantula, which I've also considered. He hates spiders.

We just got the snake yesterday. I was at a Girl Scouts science event with my Brownies last weekend, and the presenter said she had a 4-ft. corn snake for sale. She had been giving reptile presentations in the schools, but now the schools don’t allow it! (Probably one person in the district complained ...)
Anyway, Tom (11) had been asking for a snake, and this one was reasonably priced with all his (her?) equipment, so we got it for him for Christmas. We also have two tropical anoles (little lizards), which we’ve been keeping since late summer, with a few replacements due to deaths :-(. I think one is still original. They’re not much fun.
The great thing about the snake is that it eats only about every other week, and you can order a year’s supply of frozen mice for about $20 on the internet. I checked up on corn snakes before we bought it, and the books said it’s about the easiest snake to keep at home.

No, just let them thaw at room temperature.

LOL! They’re a temperate-climate snake. They don’t mind the food’s being dead, but I don’t think they can smell it if it’s frozen.
The lady who sold it to us said it would eat live mice, but if it didn’t eat them immediately, the mice would chew up the newspapers and make a mess in the cage :-).
Shannon is quite interested in the snake, but Wednesday can’t be bothered. We put a bird feeder near the living room window, and she sits on the back of the sofa and watches the birds.

It’s trying to be overcast, so that makes it ugly.

Good morning! 50’s and drizzle here. Der Prinz got the snake out and was slithered. Tom’s finally settled on “Susan” for its name.

I hate being slithered! LOL!
When it comes to naming things, I usually have to wait until they tell me who they are. Otherwise, they won’t respond to me. Go figger. ;o]
