When my sister and I were around 11 and 12, we were given roller skates that someone didn’t use any more.
We’d go over to the high school (across the street) and skate on the broad walks until we wore our cute little selves out.
When I was 14, I had a chance to go ice skating, and borrowed a pair of skates. I stepped out onto the ice and took off. I could see no difference between them and roller skates.
Although today, the in-line skates would be much closer to ice skates than the ol’ clamp-on type. It was lots of fun!
How can Tom NOT like skating? I suspect he’ll enjoy it quite a bit.
I could roller skate almost as soon as I could walk. (As soon as we moved to San Diego, in 1970.) I used to roller skate to college from my apartment, on the days when I didn’t have to carry 50 lbs. of accounting books.
I’m sure Tom and I will have a good time, assuming we don’t have any Catastrophes between now and Friday afternoon! That reminds me, I need to get a vet appointment for Wednesday. Hard to believe we’ve had her for a year!
I always loved skating. I didn’t get to ice skate more than one winter, but I sure would have liked to.
Let me know how your outing goes!
A year??? Wow. She played Hard To Get for quite a while, didn’t she?
She’s still very standoffish, but at least she moves around more since we got Shannon.
Wednesday sometimes even rolls around on the floor under our feet, acting Cute. It’s embarassing, actually.
Ah.
“Watch, mom! Mom! Watch me! See me, Mom? Mom ~~ you didn’t watch! Mom, see what I can do? Mom? MOM!”
It’s more like, “Look, I’m not too fat to roll over! Put more food in the bowl!”
LOL!
I like that one better! *chuckle*
She's not gonna like that lol. When I lived up north I only went ice skating once, and promptly fell on my behind. That was all for me.
I expect to fall on my behind, and I’m sure Wednesday will be furious about the vet visit.
It looks like I’ve been in this chair long enough. I’m going to go find someplace a little kinder to the bottom side of my self.
I’ll see y’all tomorrow!
Good night!
I just went over to my neighbors’ (in my bathrobe, since Vlad’s asleep in my closet) and gave them our proxy to vote at the homeowners’ association meeting on Thursday (Sunday School, Cub Scouts ...). We don’t think the subdivision needs a pool.
Personally, I agree with Doctor McCoy's distrust of transporters. Whenever I can, I build an underground transport system.
Actually, the Castle's tubular system of spherical elevator cars is my most advanced project.
The only character I've had who used a "transporter" in the Star Trek sense, more or less, only did it to avoid thirty thousand years of flight time. Then his signal had to be downloaded into a body grown for the purpose.
It's not my preferred method of travel.
Was that from ‘Beyond The Blue Event Horizon’?
My horizon is shrinking...
Back to the Hot Tub.
Last Post?......!
No, it is from an unfinished and unpublished novel titled "First Phoenix".
A lot of work remains to be done with it. Here's a hint: What coinage do you, a star traveler, carry to impress the natives?
I figured, the equivalent of magic beans.
bttt
I’ll just keep the cow.
Good Morning!
First from PST! Temps down to the 30s last night. Actually have the heater running.
Supposed to hit 24 today. Missed it yesterday by 3 degrees.
This is going on 4 weeks now where they have been consistently WRONG about our daytime highs. They must be using Algores numbers or something...
Good morning! Around 70 here now, will be running soon.
We went to Best Buy earlier, and I had a nice talk with a salesman about high-end front-loading washing machines.
