When my sister and I were around 11 and 12, we were given roller skates that someone didn’t use any more.

We’d go over to the high school (across the street) and skate on the broad walks until we wore our cute little selves out.

When I was 14, I had a chance to go ice skating, and borrowed a pair of skates. I stepped out onto the ice and took off. I could see no difference between them and roller skates.

Although today, the in-line skates would be much closer to ice skates than the ol’ clamp-on type. It was lots of fun!

How can Tom NOT like skating? I suspect he’ll enjoy it quite a bit.

I could roller skate almost as soon as I could walk. (As soon as we moved to San Diego, in 1970.) I used to roller skate to college from my apartment, on the days when I didn’t have to carry 50 lbs. of accounting books.

I’m sure Tom and I will have a good time, assuming we don’t have any Catastrophes between now and Friday afternoon! That reminds me, I need to get a vet appointment for Wednesday. Hard to believe we’ve had her for a year!
