Whats Your Favorite (Or Least Favorite) New TV Show Of This Season? (Vanity)
Posted on 10/23/2007 4:59:20 PM PDT by proudofthesouth
With all the bad news coming out of California I thought a frivolous topic might be in order.
What is your favorite or least favorite of the new television season?
I have two shows that I look forward to each week:
The Big Bang Theory (Mondays on CBS) and Samantha Who with Christina Applegate (Mondays on ABC)
I have an extremely dry sense of humor and both of these shows just crack me up (especially Big Bang Theory).

I mentioned earlier that I thought that all the Law and Order spin offs were going after our troops and the Bush Administration. Speical Victims tonight features an Arab that was murdered. As the script is playing out. He was tortured by members of the US military, who made him stand naked in front of women, sleep depreviation, the whole nine yards. A woman who was writing a book about his life was also murdered. This stuff is getting unwatchable. Hollywood is kicking it up a notch. If there was any justice in the world, someone would feed Dick Wolf's dick to the wolves.

I like Cavemen, too, but when I think back on 8 o'clock sitcoms from the 70s and 80's, they were nowhere near as crude as this one. It really should be on at 9, or later. I had a feeling the PC crowd, legal staff, and S&P dept. would get to the show and make it less funny than I think it could have been. Carpoolers is funny, too.

CBS “Innertube”...did some quick research, and you are not alone apparently. I had no probs. but video quality isn’t as good as ABC’s player or Fox’s player. You might try D/L’ing the latest version of the Adobe “Flash” player...(v.9).

Only found two shows worth watching:
Mad Men - AMC - Awesome show by the producer of The Sopranos.
Pushing Daisies - Just plain fun to watch.

I actually sat through that piece of garbage, just to find out what Hollywierd is trying to sell.
Basically what they did was spend fifty minutes hammering at this private security company, Helios, which is the largest private contractor currently working in Iraq (sounds familiar doesn't it), and the doctor that they hired to advise them on interrogation methods. Then, in the middle of the trial, one of the jurors has a heart attack and the doctor saves his life, which results in a mistrial. She then has her New York medical license revoked by the state.
So what you end up with is about fifty-five minutes of left-wing lunacy and a few seconds of this "evil" doctor helping save a man's life. Guess which part most people are going to remember.

I have an extremely dry sense of humor and both of these shows just crack me up (especially Big Bang Theory). I have no favorites -- I quit watching teeeheeeveee altogether several years ago.
But you say there are shows with dry humor, not the sloppy, silly or slapstick that has steadily turned me away over the decades? And no laugh tracks? (And are they broadcast? We don't have cable.)
If the answers are yes, I might turn on the telly for the second time this year.

I specifically tuned into Chuck because I've liked Adam Baldwin (who is NOT a member of the Butt Head Baldwin clan) since I first saw him in My Bodyguard and on through Full Metal Jacket and Firefly. I agree with you totally that it is a good show because of the group effort. All the actors are very good in their roles, the shows seem pretty well written, and it's just nice to see something different for a change. Not another cop show or lawyer show or doctor show. I hope it has a good, long run.

Have been watching Chuck, Journeyman, Christina Who?, and Moonlight. Think they are the best of the new shows. Also Drew Carey’s Price is Right. He is great on that one. Women’s Murder Club is good too. Have a busy tape recorder these days.
