All the biological facts are "Greek" to me! I do remember reading that Dr. Perper 'thanked Khristine Eroshevich for helping him make his decisions.' For this reason alone, I would question seriously anything he said. KE had a personal interest in what was found in ANS' autopsy, and should NEVER HAVE BEEN USED by Perper to help form his opinion.

I'm suspicious of Dr. Cyril Wecht because he has come 'unglued' when there has been discussions about Daniel's and ANS' autopsies. If there's nothing wrong with his or Perper's autopsy conclusions, then I would think they wouldn't mind if the bodies were exhumed and another reputable forensic scientist did a second autopsy. Wecht's behavior and the fact that Perper relied on KE in making his decisions, indicates there needs to be further studies or another autopsy of Daniel and ANS. IMHO

Good points.

The autopsy needs to be redone and Perper needs to be investigated. I agree something is not right regarding Perper and Wecht.

Geraldo sure beat others in the media in covering this story. He deserves thanks.

I agree! Wecht was paid by HKS. Dr. Perper met with his fellow native Russian, Dr. KE. As Perper could see from the list of drugs rx by Dr. KE, she might be in a lot of trouble. But he covered for her, didn’t he? Why? Why did he trust her statements as facts, or was he encouraged somehow to do so?

I agree that Perper should have never "trusted" KE...but I think now he knows. It's up to him to come to the plate. His practice could be in jeopardy.

I'd still like to know what drug Danny had in his body that we don't know about because it could be "embarrassing" to the family. Well, that family IS Virgie and Danny's father. I would demand that it be known and I think Bill can do it. VIRGIE is Danny's heir...if I'm thinking correctly. There's all kinds of "time" attached to transferring assets. Surely, Danny had insurance.

“The cause of death was combined drug intoxication,” said Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua Perper. “It looks like of she died of natural causes.”

She may have taken the dosages she was accustomed to but succumbed because she was already weakened,” Perper said in his report. “Miss Smith has a long history of prescription drug abuse and self-medicated in the past.”

The recommended dose of chloral hydrate is one to two teaspoons before bed. Smith often took two tablespoons, and she sometimes drank directly from the bottle, the report said.

Joshua Perper, Broward County medical examiner, said prescription and over-the-counter drugs were found in Smith’s system, including three antidepressants or antianxiety drugs.

Also found in toxicology testing was human growth hormone and chloral hydrate, a sleep medication, Perper said.

“She didn’t suffer,” he said. “She went to sleep.”

Perper said the drugs in Smith’s system acted on the respiration and circulation systems and basically shut them down.

Dr. Perper would not identify the doctors who prescribed Ms. Smith the various medications..
Dr. Joshua A. Perper, the Broward County medical examiner, said he found traces of many drugs in Ms. Smith’s body, including muscle relaxants, pain relievers like methadone and several anti-anxiety medicines. Dr. Perper described her cause of death as combined drug intoxication, the primary drug being the potent sedative chloral hydrate.

“A fever of 105 is life-threatening,” Perper said, “but she refused and she’s not a child — she has the right to refuse and the people around determined that she had the capability to make such a decision.”

“If she had gone to the hospital, I think that yes, she would have had a chance of survival,” Perper said.
( How the heck does he know if she fefused. Was he there ? )

None of the medications found in Smith’s blood were at radically high levels, Perper said, except for chloral hydrate. He said the sleep medication played a major role in her death.

In all, eight medications were prescribed to Stern, one to Eroshevich herself and two to someone by the name of Alex Katz. It was unclear whether Katz was an alias, or someone connected to Smith.

“The chloral hydrate indeed was effective and as expected it gave Anna the relief that she needed in those agonizing months after Daniel’s death and allowed her to sleep,” Sanchez said last week.
( As all of us have gone thru deaths and I lost my father to lung cancer and no doctor gave me this to deal with his death..)

One of the last to see Anna Nicole alive, DR. KHRIS EROSHEVICH just met with the Broward County medical examiner, DR. JOSHUA PERPER, to help him shape his final assessment. It has been almost five weeks since Anna Nicole passed away, and Eroshevich says she believes that Perper will announce the cause of death soon.
