“The cause of death was combined drug intoxication,” said Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua Perper. “It looks like of she died of natural causes.”

She may have taken the dosages she was accustomed to but succumbed because she was already weakened,” Perper said in his report. “Miss Smith has a long history of prescription drug abuse and self-medicated in the past.”

The recommended dose of chloral hydrate is one to two teaspoons before bed. Smith often took two tablespoons, and she sometimes drank directly from the bottle, the report said.

Joshua Perper, Broward County medical examiner, said prescription and over-the-counter drugs were found in Smith’s system, including three antidepressants or antianxiety drugs.

Also found in toxicology testing was human growth hormone and chloral hydrate, a sleep medication, Perper said.

“She didn’t suffer,” he said. “She went to sleep.”

Perper said the drugs in Smith’s system acted on the respiration and circulation systems and basically shut them down.

Dr. Perper would not identify the doctors who prescribed Ms. Smith the various medications..
Dr. Joshua A. Perper, the Broward County medical examiner, said he found traces of many drugs in Ms. Smith’s body, including muscle relaxants, pain relievers like methadone and several anti-anxiety medicines. Dr. Perper described her cause of death as combined drug intoxication, the primary drug being the potent sedative chloral hydrate.

“A fever of 105 is life-threatening,” Perper said, “but she refused and she’s not a child — she has the right to refuse and the people around determined that she had the capability to make such a decision.”

“If she had gone to the hospital, I think that yes, she would have had a chance of survival,” Perper said.
( How the heck does he know if she fefused. Was he there ? )

None of the medications found in Smith’s blood were at radically high levels, Perper said, except for chloral hydrate. He said the sleep medication played a major role in her death.

In all, eight medications were prescribed to Stern, one to Eroshevich herself and two to someone by the name of Alex Katz. It was unclear whether Katz was an alias, or someone connected to Smith.

“The chloral hydrate indeed was effective and as expected it gave Anna the relief that she needed in those agonizing months after Daniel’s death and allowed her to sleep,” Sanchez said last week.
( As all of us have gone thru deaths and I lost my father to lung cancer and no doctor gave me this to deal with his death..)

One of the last to see Anna Nicole alive, DR. KHRIS EROSHEVICH just met with the Broward County medical examiner, DR. JOSHUA PERPER, to help him shape his final assessment. It has been almost five weeks since Anna Nicole passed away, and Eroshevich says she believes that Perper will announce the cause of death soon.

This is Greta Van Susteren, I’m speaking with Park Ranger Perper, who discovered the dead bird.
GVS: ‘So, ranger, what kind of bird did you find?’
Ranger: It was a wild turkey
GVS: That’s not an endangered species is it?
Ranger: No, but it is out of season.
GVS: Right, so when you found the turkey, there was a coyote walking away from the scene, right?
Ranger: Yes there was.
GVS: What did the coyote tell you?
Ranger: Well the female coyote, was very cooperative, she said she had seen the turkey bathing in the creek , so she thought it might have a fever. The turkey said, “don’t leave “ but the coyote left anyway.
GVS: What do you think killed the turkey, was there any blood, feathers injuries? We know that turkeys cannot fly.
Ranger: There was a lot of blood.
GVS: So?
Ranger: Well, we asked the coyote, since she had seen everything and it was her opinion the turkey died from Avian Flu.
GVS: That makes sense.
GVS: That’s our show for tonight - stay tuned for Geraldo whose interview with Rita Cosby makes me sick!

I question the statement that Anna drank directly from a bottle of foul tasting chloral hydrate. HKS gave her her medication. He just doesn’t want to have his hand or fingerprints on that bottle. Probably wiped it and closed her hand over it. Would have been interesting to hear the LE report from Florida.

well, we can almost assume that this is straight from KE. Noone else has ever said, to my knowledge, that ANS 'drank directly from the bottle'. Also, one could also assume, that if CH was prominent in ANS's life circa LB-days, that he would have mentioned it as loudly as he did 'methadone'. moo

from the autopsy report:

Feb 05, '07 - ANS checks into Hardrock. "Anna Nicole Smith, Howard K. Stern, and Khristine Eroshevich left for the U.S. from the Bahamas in the evening..." (autopsy report) on the ride to the Rock Hotel and Casino, she complained of feeling cold and shivering, and she was slumped over, complaining of more buttock pain. At 8:30 pm the party checked in at the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood. Maurice Brighthaupt, a friend and former body guard met them at the hotel.

Anna’s temperature was taken by Dr. Khristine Eroshevich and was 105 degrees. Anna was told to have 911 call for transport to the hospital, but she categorically refused.

Anna was TOLD to call and she refused to do it herself...is that the basis for the claims she refused to GO ??? why would Anna be 'told'????? why wouldn't it just have been done???? HKS's standing orders according to testimony: don't call, just go (to the hospital).
