Six years ago today 19 terrorists and a movement called Al Qaeda decided to declare war on America. They struck the first blow at 8:45 am in New York City by attacking the Twin Towers with planes as cruise missiles. Then word came at 9:43 the Pentagon had been hit...as that news sinks in we get word of another hijacked plane heading towards Washington...that plane was Flight 93 it crashed outside a sleepy little town in Pennsylvania called Shanksville little did the world know that American passengers on Flight 93... fought the first counter-offensive of the coming war and WON!!
We answered that movement called Al Qaeda in the coming months and years...with many of their leaders killed or captured.....and the war goes on.
Today we honor and remember all those brave souls who went to work that beautiful sunny Sept. morning....and never returned home that night.
God bless them and God bless America.
They let him go out unsupervised. He had a back pack with survival gear in it.
Oh by the way, he recently got married and was given permission to visit him family a few times a year. (His new family lives in, you guessed it, Hammonton, NJ)
there are going to be some interesting camp fire stories in the pine barrens this weekend.
Folks, here we are today, another sad remembrance but also a day to reconfirm our vows to always remember, to seek justice, and prevent such a day as 9/11 from happening again!
That day....the carpet installers were here..early about 8:30, so with the computer moved and shut down here in the family room, I was watching the tv for the news - a rare thing.
Otherwise I would not hve seen it all from the very first..
Anyway, I kept running into the family room to tell the guys what was going on. ...they nodded and kept working like I was a lunatic with strange visions I thought...
Then they finished and went out to their truck, and I presumed...turned on their radio. I wonder if their memories match mine. LOL!
>>when the weather was not as beautiful as that day.
I was watching Nova - they claim the 3 days of grounded air planes is why the days were so beautiful......there were no jet trails.
They then tied it to global warming. Somebody measured the temperature increase when the jet pollution stopped at one degree C. The pollution filters the sun and dims it.
Good Morning. Thank you for leading us this morning, Dog.
Apparently MSNBC is going to re-air their coverage of that day starting at 9AM. I may turn it on for a bit.
I have to go pick up my granddaughter. I will check in later today.
Everything I need to know about Islam I learned on 9/11/01.
Let's not forget Flight 93 and the Pentagon. We tend to mention the Twin towers all the time, and that's probably a shorthand for the other sites as well, but it doesn't hurt to mention explicity the other 2.
My husband and I have been to Shanksville, and the Pentagon site where there is now a fine new chapel and a dignified Memorial area where the plane crashed that day.
So... when we get a string of beautiful days, and aircraft are flying, then what?
Good Morning!
I remember so vividly a teacher walking into my room and rambling on about a plane flying into the WTC. I thought she had lost it.
I remember seeing the weather forecasted that day for NYC, and they were commenting that is was going to be a crystal clear day. I thought how could a pilot fly into a building on such a clear day?
Then I turned on the radio, and the news changed that entire thought process.
By late afternoon, I was out at the grocery, and I could hardly concentrate on driving the car...That conintued for the rest of the week.
Good morning.
I’ll make time this evening to come back.
We must always remember Debra Burlingame
'America the Ugly' Norman Podhoretz
Trashing PetraeusOpinion Journal
Good!
Wel, well, well, look who the wind blew up, HI!
Thank you Jim, for this thread and this tribute.
I remember.
I will never forget.
I will do everything I can to confront our enemy and win him over to our side.
If I fail, then my son takes over.
I got my poster made and Mr. Prairie put it up outside despite his tooth is hurting AGAIN! Sounds like he will be making another trip to the dentist office.
Thanks for the thread.
Thank you Dog, it’s a day we will NEVER FORGET.
Dog, thank you for the start today.....
I hardly ever turn on the TV during the day but when my daughter six years ago, told me to turn on my TV that there had been an airplane accident in NYC..I turned on the TV.
As the TV came on, I saw the one tower, smoke pouring from it...and just then another plane came into view and it flew right into the other tower...I was in shock and the tears were flowing.
I said many prayers that day and continue to pray for our country and our brave fighting men and women.
Saddam Hussein is DEAD.
Oday is DEAD.
Quassay is DEAD.
What can President Bush do in the middle east that OBL cannot?
Walk around.
