[ Please note, I'm posting this as a commentary on our increasingly decadent culture and the either impossible or undesirable goals it sets for our young women. ]
LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AP) -- Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing. An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked-about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards -- but for all the wrong reasons....
She walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching. And, perhaps most unforgivable given her once-taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape....

Proof positive that you can take the girl out of the trailer but you cant take the trailer out of the girl. OUCH.
Actually, I'll comment that although I know what you mean, what you say is somewhat unfair to young women in trailers, in general... Britney is a pretty extreme case...

Shes looking matronly. Only by comparison to her former self. She looks like a normal woman now. IMO she'd have to put on a few more pounds in the midsection to qualify for "matron" status.
> Midway between young and too old to wear two piece bathing suits.
I'd be okay seeing that in a 2-piece as-is... the striking upper story and honest hips make up for any extra in the middle. She's still terrific-looking, IMO.
I just wish she'd dress more decently onstage, not that I'll get that wish.
She's not slut material any more, maybe more like MILF material.

Hmm, even in her rock bottom state, he’s still a hell of a lot better/more talented than Jessica Simpson in my opinion.

I saw a replay of it. It was pretty nauseating.

I think she's a pretty good looking milf, myself. But, I'm not a fan of the anorexic look.
What disgusted me is that she seemed to be high.

Unfortunate pose (she looks bent over, thus shorter than she really is), but hey, I’ve chased a lot worse than that, perfectly happily... The tummy pooching out is going to haunt her, but I’ll cut her some slack — two kids in three years...

Since MTV is run by a bunch of chickenhawks looking for teenaged boys I’ll bet they are disappointed as hell in a curvy Spears. But if this gig had plenty of barechested “boys” prancing about like teenaged girls then all will be well out in the Hamptons at Redstone’s “parties.”

It wasn’t too bad when it was new: music videos and Liquid Television with Aeon Flux and Beavis and Butthead, et al.
But now it just sucks. It’s completely unwatchable.
