Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
We had a press pot once; tile floors are very unforgiving to glass items dropped on them....LSA
Oh, OK!
I’ve got a stainless steel one.
Even without the press pot, I could always just heat the water on the stove and “automatically drip” it through a filter setup.
Of course, I’m in Perfect Village. Our power won’t go out. :)
~sigh~
Luke just came back down for the second time tonight (Mrs. is out getting ready fer her trip). After two and a half weeks of late night rehearsals and shows, he’s having trouble getting to sleep.
On the other hand, I was sorta sleeping in front of the TV. So much so that when Luke came down, I managed to hit something on the remote and lose all of the sound. I can’t figger it out. I’m hoping the Mrs. will know when she gets back. If not, I’ll have to dig out the manual. It’s around here...somewhere...
Yeah, right. OB brought in some firewood, just in case. I noticed that icicles are forming on our roof and the neighbors’ trees. Right now, the weatherweenie is assuring us that we shouldn’t lose power and that everyone will be fine; that makes me really, really worried. LSA
It’s currently 57 here. Was in the 70s today and supposed to be the same tomorrow. I think it’s supposed to turn cold again by the weekend, but nothing like what you guys are getting.
That’s exactly what it sounds like. Gunshots. Pow then CRASH!
Our trees are in shambles.
We still have power, but it wavers. One branch is on our power line. If it goes, we’ll loose our power. Steve went out and trimmed it a bit to relieve the pressure.
It’s overwhelming.
But at least we’re warm.
We woke up around 4am when a large branch fell and hit the boys’ window. It didn’t break the window, but it shook the whole house and scared me to death!
I’m talking a large branch...like when it’s gone, it leaves a large gap in the tree where it was.
I moved faster than I have in a long time!
Y’all be safe out there.
I bet. I remember our ice storm well, and while the fir trees tolerate it ~pretty~ well, the branches can fold straight down almost like an umbrella... our alders and deciduous trees, maples and oaks like you have, don’t tolerate it well at all... and the alders were snapping all over, sounded like a firing range.
Heh. The power flickered whilst I was in the shower. I’d hate to have the power go off before I dry my hair!
Aw, poor kid. I bet he is having trouble getting to sleep after all those late nights, not like us ~older~ people.
My sister and BIL flew in from Phoenix just to remember why they left the Midwest. This ice-storm convinced ‘em!!
Yikes!! LSA
Yeah, I’m sure it’s just a readjustment phase.
g’nite all
I *love* that tree. ;-)
Looks like Pippin is considering how best to knock it down.
It may get knocked down several times :~)
Eeeek! Stay safe! (and warm)
Kitteh sez: Who needs a cheezburger when I can has a twee!
