The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

LSA has a new mat outside, we rotated the old mat to basement and shop area.

I got a new rug for the kitchen and put the old one in the garage.

Let’s see....how does it go? Whiskey, cream, and honey? I must have some honey around here somewhere...

Unfortunately, where I meant to be provacative, even annoying, with the decs Big'ol announces, "It's my favorite tree so far!"

*sigh*

Of the three things mentioned, only the first is essential, the others optional.

That’s true. :)

I ran out of Irish cream today. The ingredients listed on the bottle are whiskey, cream, and honey. I can manage that.

Those are remarkable decorations, actually quite well detailed. What are their size? Scale?

So, the Savior of the World has come...and my seven-year-old sits on the front of the stage picking his toenails.

~sigh~

They're big ~1 ft long or so. They're also vey expensive. I don't have any, but there is a spot for Oaxacan woodcarvings on my "someday" wish list.

Anyhoo, I'm just using the colors from the palatte on my tree. So far so good. I have most of my saturated colors up and am working on the pastels now. I painted up some cheap-o balsa wood stars from Walmart. Took pics, but the battery died so sharing them will have to wait.

Tomorrow I'm going to make some crepe/tissue paper flowers... the kind my hispanic friends taught me to make in the 4th grade. :)

Big'ol was just wishing the VA wing of the family were coming up this year. *They'd* find the tree very annoying.

I can’t get too theme-ish with a tree. Family has too many traditional ornaments to put on that are favorites. But I’m starting with a base coat of color. Sort of an aquamarine-ish color.

Then they can do what they want.

I did buy another palm tree this morning for the nativity. It’s appropriate. There are date palms in Bethlehem.

Whee!

Theme trees confuse me. Doesn’t everyone just pulled out the eight thousand ornaments and put all of them on the tree, every year? That’s what we did growing up...

That’s what we have here in Florida, palm tree Christmases, since we don’t get snow, not that I would want it anyway.

Making curry. It had been awhile. It’s simmering, and smells lovely.

Yum...

I'm looking forward to that myself!
