The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

the Senior Drill Sergeant kept asking me if I'd be happier going to OCS

Yeah, I scored highest in the flight on the written.

I’d never fired a weapon before. If I’d done as well in the real test as I did in the practice round, I’d have gotten marksman...but I didn’t. Just enough to qualify. The guy supervising adjusted my scope after the practice. I’d like to blame it on that, though I think it was more beginner’s luck, unfortunately. ;-)

That is a pretty darn valid thing to blame it on...

Hey guys!

Wish I’d known about you all earlier in the month.

But next year...I’ll be there.

He said it was off during practice. Seemed OK to me. I was hittin’ the target, durn it!

But like I said, I didn’t know what I was doing, and I was really worried about doing stuff all wrong. Even more so than I am now.

Things I like:

Friday nights
Dishwashers that do all my work for me
Yellowtail Shiraz blends. Best $5 bottle of wine from Australia or anywhere else.

My first year I did a little over 30k. Last year, my second I did like 15 or less :P

So this is my first time 'winning'.

If I had planned better I would have gotten more done. If I combined everything else I wrote I would have around 30k. I didn’t share any of that on Nano or anywhere else though.
