The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

SirKit said he got ours at the Home Despot. Each kit covers 5 regular size windows, and cost about $15. If you have a picture window, that kit would cover that and probably a couple more windows. But the kits come in different sizes; some cover 3, some cover 5 windows. He also saw some on eBay.

I’d think that with the double stick tape, you could even attach the tape to the wall around the window, and then stretch the plastic across the window.

The tape for the shrink film needs to be applied to the outside of some sort of frame, because it will be under tension when it is shrunk. If you have a decorative frame on the wall around the window, you'll be okay. Sticking the tape on a flat wall surface won't work too well if you try to shrink it, because something would pull away.

Hey, she could always tack up some lattice around the windows, so she’ll have something to stick the tape to. ;o)

Oh dear. What vehicle was he in?

He was in his Honda. So it's just a little uglier than it already was. He's doing better this evening. Being with friends at the show helped (16 more performances - not that we're counting).

He has to be at work at 7:30 in the a.m. Mrs., Luke and I are staying home to rest up. Luke is exhausted. And so are we.

Isn’t that the stuff you are supposed to use for an Anthrax attack?

I think FEMA wants us to use regular vinyl drop cloths. They’re much cheaper.

Hmm, see, the problem is that they don’t ask you to sign up for the play right after the last one ends. The anime convention we help with is the same way. They give you a month or two to recover and then you forget how bad it is. And say “sure, we’ll do it!” next time.

I'm still in the dark age and use my Daytimer rather than any electronic/crackberry kind of calendar.

For August 2008, I have a series of post-it notes entitled "101 Reasons to NOT do the 2008 Christmas Show." I'm on reason #51.

Mornin’...

Last day of NaNoWriMo! I finally figure out how to get around the block last night, so I’ll probably transcribe a coupe thousand more words today. But so long as I have 50k officially verified...I probably won’t mess with the site. I just want to move forward and finish the story.

Fun year. I may do the typewriter thing again next year. Maybe play with OCR, too.

If you *still* sign up to do it...you do realize we’ll be obliged to call in the men in the white coats...

Speakin' of Nano:

Today is St. Andrew's Day - the Scots' equivalent of St. Patrick's Day. To celebrate, there is an annual Haggis Hunt. I saw a haggis, but because I'm at work and don't have my login information I can't get my prize. :( But I took a screen shot for proof!
