Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
I’d like to go to England, Scotland and Wales someday. Maybe even Austria!
The weather guys ‘n gals are teasing us with ‘highs in the upper 80’s and a chance of rain’ this weekend. Hope both things come to pass.
I don't mind! ;-)
He may have been a fellow Mississippian, but I never was a big fan of Elvis. None of my older siblings were, either.
Heh, neither would we. We’re getting a bit of a thunderstorm now, enough of one Gypsy thinks the computer desk needs a guardian.
He was a unique entertainer, had quite a following, we weren’t fans but many were and are still.
Want....
Of course I would turn myself into a wad of flaming goo within seconds of trying to operate it. Maybe I should stick with a nice tank.
I've been dreamin', too. And I may have to switch Nano stories. See, I have a real twisted sense of what fanfic is. Usually fanfic takes place in the same story universe. My version takes the story elements I like and puts them through a blender.
I really enjoyed Outlander. It has 1) hunky guys in kilts, 2) the Scottish Highlands and castles, 3) wuv, twuuue wuv, 4) complicated family history, 5) battles, raids, skirmishes. But there's such an element of sadness knowing the story concludes right on the cusp of the Clans getting clobbered by the English. So my proposed nano will take all the things I like from the story and put them in a modern setting. And I'll take the thing I don't like (getting clobbered) and turn the tables...
New Nano story: The Scottish clans are reborn of necessity to repel a new invader: Islamicists intent on conquering the British Isles. They have taken most of the major cities. London is lost, Parliment is dissolved. Chaos and Sharia reign instead. When word comes that Islamist raiding parties are making their way up the glen, one family decides to fight for their lands and freedom. They have no army, but they have the terrain on their side and some excellent hunting rifles. They rally the neighboring communities and draw up plans for their defense. Of course not everyone wants to fight so naturally conflict ensues. But through much courage, strength, heartache, and a few handy skills from the Highland Games, they succeed where their ancestors failed. Hurray!
No I haven’t,but it sounds like I should’ve. I think I get that channel on my dish, but I’ll sure have to look.
I don't think I get that channel.
If you have the dish network there’s a good chance you do have BBCA. I love Bri’ish programming.
Yeeesh....
Mega-nasty thunderstorms last night. We met Jr. for dinner at themall. When we left and he went back to work it had just started raining. We lost power at Castle Stormhands around 9:30 last night.
Thunderstorms lasted for prolly 3-4 hours. We had over 3 1/2 inches of rain. Worst of the storms was early on. I’ve never quite seen lightning like that. Like rapid fire in succession.
Jr. did the responsible thing on the way home and stopped at Walmart for s’mores ingredients.
We, along with 53,000 of our closest friends, still don’t have power. No damage though. Just lots of leaves and small branches in the yard. So that’s a good thing.
Yikes... well at least it’s warm when your power goes out!
Good morning.
Erin was a fizzle here, but heard on the radio this morning that some areas south and southwwest of Austin got a foot of rain out of her.
Radio weather weenie was already warning folks in South Texas to prepare for Dean, which may arrive here next Wednesday/Thursday if the early track predictions run true.
Yeeeeaarrgghhh!!
I wondered from the news if you were under water!
