The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Gave me the hots for red-haired Irishmen in kilts.

You ever watch Monarch of the Glen on BBCAmerica? A darn charming series set in the Scottish Highlands with *tons* of kilt hotness. Darn charming!

I still have to be careful where I wear my “Infidel” shirt.

Convenience stores are a ... problem.

I think the hippie shirt is my favorite.

But this ain’t the right town to wear it in...

Oh, not at all... it’s the ~perfect~ town to wear it in.

:-)

Well, folkses... off I go to find an aeroplane. I’m sure it’s here someplace...

If anyone cares...I've finally read all of James Clavell's books except his first, King Rat. This first of his I read, during Desert Shield (!!) was actually his last, Whirlwind, which is currently out of print.

I'm exhauted and may wait another 16 years before looking for King Rat :)

However you spelled it, I read it as ‘exhausted’. Funny how the mind does that!

Er, uh, no. But I put a bunch of B&B-type places on my “dream vacation” list for someday.

Evening Bear - That’s not necessarily a bad thing..

Getting a bit of rain here, almost enough to get the sidewalk damp.

Yup... it rained here most of the morning, but not heavily... just a standard shower type of rain. I'm not sure how much we got. Chance of rain persists through Saturday, last I heard.

That’s a scary photo, he’s an ‘unintentional discharge’ waiting to happen. Even if it’s staged, likely, it ain’t funny.

Yup, remember it well, the drive home from work that night was very slow that night. Folks driving very slow (on I-70) with their lights on, the sky spy traffic cop was likening it to when Kennedy was shot. Lucky for me, the fella riding with me was as cynical as I was, sorry and all that folks, but it wasn’t the end of civilization. Well, maybe for some, but not all of us.
