Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

We did some prep work for the kitchen remodel today. We moved the temporary header to the den. It had been set up in the kitchen, first, holding up the back wall so we could replace the sliding door with a double window and single door. We had to replace the one long header with the two over the new openings. After that, it was holding up the load bearing wall between the kitchen and den. Since we increased the opening from the kitchen to the den from 40" to 72", SirKit and Joseph had to replace the shorter header with a longer one. Now, when I'm working in the kitchen, I can see not only the TV, but also the fireplace, and folks sitting in there!
The temporary header is cool. It's made from two airplane wing jacks we got from a place in GA that sells surplus items from Warner Robbins AFB. They were designed to hold up the wings of C5A Galaxy aircraft! They're big; we call them Jack and Jill. SirKit created a tall I-Joist that can be slipped into the slots on top of the jacks, then we crank it up so it presses up against the ceiling. Works like a charm!
In order to set it up in the den, I had to clean off my desk. UGH! Well, I needed to do it sometime, anyway. Now I need to put papers in files, or throw them away, anything but put them back on the desk!

ecurbh and I are after these $&*!#! guys lighting off the fireworks. I’ve reported them three nights now, and never knew exactly which house. By the time the officer got here it was quiet. Well tonight we called then got in the truck and drove down and saw them lighting off bottle rockets. Now I know. Still waiting for the officer.

Last night I shoved stuff around in the back room and organized the manga half of our manga-and-anime collection. It’s all alphabetized now, with room on the shelves to add volumns. I’ll do the anime later or we’ll move it downstairs. Our house has reached the exploding point and until we do a big de-frap it’ll be impossible to keep clean.
