The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I need a ~legitimate~ reason that someone with a high draft number would have been turned away in 1970. Don’t want it to be too debilitating, but something that would keep him out even though he wanted to go.

Are you series? That could add some very interesting plot twists.

Eeek!

I must admit, cats work better as characters in books than dogs do. Dogs conquering the world would be ridiculous. Cats, you could buy.

Well....the dogs could be very sneaky about it.

Are you series?

Yup, I heard of someone that got out because of that. I forget who, an uncle or distant relative I think.

That would be why the dogs would be bad at it and hence why they fail.

Our dogs are not sneaky. They would start trying to take over the world and then we’d show up and they’d be cowering and hoping we didn’t punish them.

I figure it’d probably be some ankle-biter type dog that would most likely try to take over the world.

We had a row of thunderstorms last night! Pretty loud storms for here, too, lots of booming and lightning!

I wanted to unplug the fence and the horses (Cyn mostly) seemed ill at ease running around, so we went and caught them and brought them in....

They always run out when it rains or hails on the building, but if they can just get over that, they realize it's not killing them.

Bay looks OK with it...

Pony was OK with it...

Cyn was mad ;~)

We got soaked :~D It was an adventure. I asked my honey if he thought we were crazy and what would he do without me and my wild ideas.

Here's a picture I took from the porch of the rain... It was really raining hard for over an hour after the lightning stopped. And it was really warm. Great for my freshly mowed pasture!

I don’t have any animals that want to run outside when it’s storming. Sam wants to stay ~very~ close to protect us.

That’s Homer, He wants to be right where we are, Gidget wants out to attack it. Someone wet the carpet, we’re assuming that’s Barkley’s way of handling it because that hasn’t happened before.

As for the horses, I just didn’t want them running with the fence off. Only thing is, in all the frantic running around, we didn’t actually unplug the fence. D’oh. I thought you were gonna do it. ;~)

I missed the thunderstorm, pretty much. Was tired and bored and went to bed about 9:30. Something woke me up that might have been thunder but it didn’t register. The clock radio was going all blinky-blinky so I puzzled about why the power had gone off.

Well that would have been a fun place to watch the storm. Lots of sky... we don’t have sky here. :~)
