It was awesome.
At some point - after we unpack the car - we’ll post pictures and a narrative. For now - no injuries, Valence did not get eaten by a bear when he ran off Saturday night, and we got hundreds of pictures of mountains. And tundra.
Now I need to plot NaNo.
you can bet on that...
you'll just fill it with frap anyway...
Did some cleaning in thesunroom...moved all the frap into the garage so now thegarage needs to be cleaned out.
It looks rather cozy in there...complete with lighting and ca 1980’s AV equipment. Hmmm....wonder what’s the best type of heater to use in a sunroom for the winter. I’ve got space heaters, but they really run up the electric bill.
It’s one of the originals. If you’ve got a sharpener you can spare, I’d be glad to pay you for it. Or, if it’s easier you could just tell me what I need to buy around here.
No attic, but it does have a loft. Fortunately, that’s reachable from the floor.
that's purty much thuh point
We still recommend those oil-filled~radiator~shaped heaters. Our DeLonghi is five years old and still works perfectly; there is no blower to wear out, nor any exposed heating elements to burn you or Miss Kitty. The 24 hour timer allows you to set multiple on-off sequences so you don't have to have it "on" constantly. If you check 'em out, OB says to be sure and check that the rib edges are 'rolled', not just 'stamped' sharp edges. LSA
Yeah, I was looking at those online. I was wondering if they are better than baseboard heat. I’ve got an oscillating heater with a blower that I use now and another that blows but doesn’t oscillate. Both have thermostats but no timers. They really suck up the energy and I trip a circuit breaker if I run the heater and the washing machine at the same time.
Baseboard heating would work and use up a lot less floor space. We have an old one upstairs in the bedroom and it has a thermostat but no timer, but that could just be because it is 30 years old. LSA
Floor space isn’t an issue....assuming I haven’t allowed the frap to accumulate. :) Usually, floor space is tight only when I’m doing potting/re-potting. I’ve got pots and bags of potting soil spread out all over the place!
I'll tell you what to look for, because I spent three hours tearing up the basement, looking for something I stumbled across a few weeks ago. Now that I need it, I can't find it. (I found some other stuff, though, and got distracted from the rest of the search.)
You want something in the $7-$8 price range called a diamond rod sharpener. Here is a picture of one by Buck, but there are other brands too. Stay away from ceramic sticks for now.
They're usually round, with one flat side. With the sharpener extended, you gently move it up and down the edge of the knife, trying to match the original sharpened area. Keep a couple of drops of water on the blade, because diamond sharpeners work best with water to flush away the microscopic shavings.
When you use a diamond sharper, you must always use a gentle touch. Diamond will sharpen the toughest steel, but it's always best to go slowly.
If you had a knife with a regular edge, rather than a one-sided grind, there are plenty of simple V-type sharpeners that will work. But with the blade you have, you have to use a rod that will sharpen only that one side.
Well thunderstorms are pretty exciting!
The pups were possessed by an ancient alien that was banished to top of the mountain, now they have designs on taking over the world?
Thanks. I’ll look for one of those.
Er.. no... that one doesn’t work for me...
I need some more subplots.
Hmm, maybe. I have some vague ideas I just need to solidify.
Good morning.
I mowed the entire yard this weekend...except for the front yard. Matthew mowed that. But I did the side yard, and the entire back yard.
If I didn’t, Steve would...and I wanted him to work on the Beetle!
I got rid of our entire garden too...except for that one little patch that we dug out and lined with hardware cloth.
No more big garden, only one little four by five foot plot.
That’s ok.
