The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I don’t.

But nobody talks to me. No one cares what I think...

Things are slow all over FR. Do you think that the fact that we are 5 days from Labor Day may have something to do with it. I posted a thread with a hot button issue down south of here, pinged an entire continent, and have about 20 responses.

I just sold one of the bike bags I got with the one I actually use - the guy sold me a pile of stuff. On the way back I stopped at the grocery for milk. The guy behind me in line was carrying a motorcycle and was tattooed all over. He was buying soy milk and some sort of Ezekiel bread type thing, plus other assorted vegetarian foods.

Only in Olympia do bikers buy organic, I’m thinkin’.

Er...he was carrying a motorcycle helmet, that should say... Motorcycles are a bit hard to tote through grocery stores.

That’s probably a lot to do with it. But the rest of FR never used to really affect us.

LOL - Hey all - I’ve been scarce here, my days have been sortof obsessed with treating the fungus on Bay’s feet, mowing pasture, and laundry.

The basset rescue lady stopped by tonight... she lost another one. A basset this time. Keep an eye out - low.

Well, I wasn’t really gettin’ all philosophical about it. I’ve been busy on theblog. It was just an observation.

Things change.

That's a horse of another color then!

Honey’s been working late... he’s not home yet. He’ll be making a lot of overtime this week.

I saw her out earlier this evening. There was a dead dog by the side of the road on the way to the interstate, and I kind of slowed to see if it was really dead...she pulled over just in front of me, checking if it was hers, I guess. I didn’t stop.

It wasn’t a basset, though.

I wonder what her fence is like, that dogs keep escaping.

Eek...that *is* late! Overtime is good, I guess, but...ugh.

Her fence is lousy, I’ve seen it. It’s like 3 foot chain link with no posts, just fastened to the house and a garage and wobbly in between.

Not good dog fence. :-\ Considering hounds like to roam even more than the average dog-without-a-home, she should really have a good fence.

Yes, it’s a horse of a black gunky fungus color :~\

Clearing up nicely, it’s just very time consuming to clean, dry, and apply medicine on all four feet twice a day, and a lot of bending over!

And they’re very easily distracted!

When we *did* have stray dogs back home (don’t remember seeing more than a handful over the years), typically they were hounds of some sort that had gone chasing after a scent and lost track of time and place.
