FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Oh - the yard looks great! Like a golf course :~)

It looks nice! The place has nice curb appeal with your fenced garden and the nice beds.

Well, that is what I’m hoping for:), curb appeal.

Charlie and I have decided tho, we are going to have to paint the whole house. He can do it in a days time with the paint machine. The body of the house isn’t too bad, but under the eaves the paint is peeling pretty bad in places, and we have to replace a few pieces of siding anyway. It will stay the same colors.

Heh... Isn’t that surprising how good she is with them?

Here’s the link, I was going to post them here too but I got distracted. http://forum.horse.com/fb.asp?m=718263

Well, I was really hoping not to have to do it. You can see in the pictures that I started painting the trim across the front. While I was doing that was when I noticed how bad it was under the eaves. So it’s going to have to be done, so I stopped on the trim. You can also see how faded the shutters look. They are like plastice/vinyl...I took one off the dining room window to see how the paint would bond to them. It will, so when everything is done it will look better. Funny how you don’t notice that stuff till you really look, and buyers will be looking.

Yes it is surprising, especially given how you say she chases the feral outside.

It’s true, you don’t notice what you see every day. And I didn’t notice the shutters looked faded until you said you were gonna paint. ;~)

I’ve noticed that about cobwebs. You live in a house all the time you don’t even notice, till you see one... then they are EVERYWHERE.

Well the severe weather did make it here. My son called around midnight and told me to get up and watch the weather. The wind was really bad, but from the looks of things this morning no damage other then more dead fall stuck in the trees from the ice storm came down. The only other problem I had was I couldn’t get a satellite signal thru it.

Aw man Beaker, I sure hate to hear that! He sounded like a great young man and his family and friends will have my prayers.

You hang in there too. We miss you around here!

Wow, the yard looks great! The house looks really nice too, but a fresh coat of paint should really increase the value. That’s just one less thing a potential buyer will have to worry about for a while.

I think Krylon makes a special paint for plastic stuff. It's called "Fusion". I think it's actually supposed to become part of the plastic, so it won't flake off like regular paint will. Might be worth checking into. They carry it at Wal-Mart around here.

Hi Becky, and by watching the shows on HGTV you know how well they stage houses to sell. All the little things have to be fixed. Your yard looks very nice.

We had some bad storms here the other night. The thunder was so loud I thought that it was a bomb. It set the neighbors alarm off from rattling the windows. Today, it is suppose to get to 95o, way too hot for me! Good day to stay in the A/C.

That's the only bad thing about satellite, internet or TV, you can't get a signal when it's raining real hard, and sometimes it doesn't even have to be raining where YOU are, just somewhere in the line of sight between you and the satellite. But it's better than dial-up and that's my only other alternative. I guess I could try Verizon's DSL, but it's kinda pricey and I don't know how well it'd work either. :-/

I'm on Whirl and Elizabeth is on Hope...

Whirl almost looks like she is going to be a gray.

Aw geeeze. Well, I’m sorry you had to go through it up there by yourself. So you got up to watch but then couldn’t get TV? Glad there was no real damage done.
