FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

It's the Jetstar model.

I did a little interweb research last night and it appears that her asking price is well under the average. I sealed the deal a little while ago and will pick it up Saturday.

Will post pics............

From what I read on their website, they sound really well made. If they’re quoting you a good price on it I say go for it!

Has the LQ been finished or are you going to have to do that yourself. Does it have an awning or AC?

LQ has bed, fridge, microwave, sink, shower, cabinetry, and a small closet.

Also a heat and air unit. I tested the AC yesterday in 95 degF heat and it cooled the LQ nicely. It has an awning but I didn't roll it out.

It's also got new tires and the stock area looks barely used.

She priced it at $9995.00. My web research indicated that this was well below average. Actually, there was one almost identical listed in Illinois for $18,500.00.

I got a cashiers check from the bank this morning and will pick it up Saturday.

We sealed the deal this morning. I think that she's happy to be able to pay off her bank loan.

I finished my assignment in south Florida a couple of weeks ago and have returned to God's country. I'm gonna fritz around the house for a few months and perhaps go back to work after Christmas.

...I think that she's happy to be able to pay off her bank loan...

I think a lot of people are getting in that predicament with the price of gas/fuel being what it is. I have a feeling there's going to be a ton of big trucks, horse trailers, boats, tractors, and anything else that costs a lot and requires a lot of fuel to run, on the market at bargain basement prices before the summer's over. People are having to choose between their toys and eating. It sucks, but it makes for some great deals if you have the cash.

Lot's of people overextended when they bought their toys.

This woman with the trailer had a fairly new home, several acres, a new barn, several paddocks sectioned off with stock panels, three new cars and who only knows what was inside the house, along with this horse trailer and I'd bet that there's a bank note on every bit of it.

I got rid of my consumer debt years ago. If I can't pay cash, I don't buy it anymore.

I have a mortgage. That's it. Everything else, horses, trucks, Jeep, guns, computers, furniture, horse trailer, tools, tack, all paid for.

That's the best way to operate. I've got a loan on my new truck, but only because it was o% interest. Why not use their money and leave mine in the bank when it's like that?!

Our’s is Chev. The only thing we wish it had are those mirrors like yours has. They would be so much better pulling a trailer. I love the tack, too.
Your rig is nice.
Cowboyway- I haven’t heard of a trail-et around here. 3 horse is nice, but we end up using the stud stall for hay, cooler, chairs, buckets, grill, etc. so it’s really like having a 2 horse with storage.

Mine aren’t ferels and they can have 3 a yr. if I don’t separate them. They pretty much get pregnant right after one litter is gone.

Congrats, sounds like a sweet deal to me. The layout is nice. The graphics on Trailets are pretty cool too.

Mine is a steel trailer also, but weighs less than 6000#. It is rare to go anywhere with hook-ups, so I didnt order air/heat or frig. It has sink, toilet, shower and table that makes into a second bed

Hello everyone.

I know, I've been scarce, but I just wanted to post this. A friend of my step brother's was killed last week in Iraq. The horrible thing is that he was killed while on his way home... he was supposed to be home this Saturday. He and my step brother enlisted together, and when my step brother's tour was up, Duffy re-upped. What makes it harder is that he was just home on leave a couple of weeks ago. He was a great kid.

Here

If you could pray for their families, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.

Very hot and humid here this evening. There is a line of severe weather to the west of us, I’m not sure it will make it here, but they are saying it could. Around midnight:\ It’s the hail now a days that worry’s me. It’s been very very windy here too.

I spent the day mowing and weedeating. I’ve discovered the lower I set the mower the nicer the yard looks. Now it’s time to mow the pasture again.

A few pictures.

Part of the front yard.

The day lillies are looking nice.

The morning glories have reached the top of the fence.

I should have taken a picture of the iris...do you remember them around the bottom of the trees in the front yard. Well, last weekend when the kids were here, they all brought their dogs. There were six dogs here, and the young ones, Grizzly and Jenny’s lab General decided they were a great place to play hide and seek in. It was fun to watch them, but they flattened ALL of them down. I mowed them all down today. It kind of made around the firepit area look messy but they will mulch up everytime I mow. They had finished blooming for the year anyway.
