Yeah, he pretty much got on and off by stepping off or up from the rock, too. That would be while the horse was all 4’s on the ground. I just knew he could do it and asked him to for a picture.
Yep - where’s the pictures.
How old are the kittens now? It almost sounds like she was very ill or poisoned. She might have retained something - maybe someone who is good about cats will chime in.
My son and ex-DIL raised quite a few kittens by bottle. It’s hard work.
That’s a relief. I kept looking at the size of the horse and the distance to the ground and thought if he mounted that way he was a whole lot more agile than I ever was :)
I figure they are going on 4 weeks. I thought about that too because a few years back we all thought someone was poisoning cats. The babies seem healthly though. I’m hoping she will show up “starving” She used to take off when she was expecting too. Lot of good that will do the babies though, caz she’ll be dry.
Try giving them some wet cat food in a dish - put some on your finger and see if they will lick it off. I’ll talk to my son when I get a chance and ask him for any other tips to get them eating on their own.
We bought some kitty chow and pasted it with formula. It didn’t work so I went to the milk by bottle. I’m a little concerned about the gold one. She’s the littlest and not as energetic as the others.
I just talked to my son - he said mix some canned cat food with the milk - they should be able to eat that. Mix it into a gruel.
Gosh... those are neat pictures!
~waves to faith and frog~
What’s with all the butterflies? Are they just swarming like that? Neat!
Beautiful scenery and action shots... the guy with that walker appears to be quite a character on a ride ;~)
Oh - and we’re back from our trail ride... pics uploading. :~)
Good, hoping it works okay.
Hope you had a great time - waiting for pictures.
I would think they would be able to eat that milk and canned food gruel, too, by now. Are they standing and walking?
I found one kitten in the cat’s house outside today. I’m glad she didn’t have anymore than that. Too, busy.
The pictures were in an area of Bankhead Forest around Thompson Creek. We went up the back side of the mountain and it’s not far from the house.
Duchess 47: Good luck with your horses. I know it must be bittersweet to sell them. I hope they get good homes.
Thanks. I’m going to hate to see them go. Praying that they all get special homes.
She kept them in areas where they couldn’t move around much. I guess she didn’t want then getting out. About a week ago we put them in a large shower area that isn’t complete yet. They weren’t walking well. Now they climb and run. I’m hoping in a few days they will pick up the eating. Right now they smell the milk, walk thru the bowl and chew the sides but they just haven’t figured it out yet. It took me over an hour to get about 3 ozs in them the first try. Now they drain the bottle in about 10 minutes so they are learning. Tomorrow I’ll try the wet cat food.
Here we are ready to go at the trailhead... by ourselves! on a Saturday afternoon!
And we're off!
Heading down to the creek:
Where's the bridge!
It's gone!
This bridge is gone! Must have washed out over winter.
Other washout areas and recent trail work:
Couple shots while we took a breather in a clearing...
Getting ready to cross the creek on the way back... big chunk of the bridge footing sitting there...
Brand new white saddle pad broken in... :~\ Was too cold to bathe Bay pre-ride :~\ He sweat mud.
And if THIS isn't the second most irritating thing our neighbor's ever done. This is back in our driveway. He's backed his van and his utility trailer into our trailer parking spot while we were out! Grrr... we unloaded the horses there and then had to go play musical trailers with him when he was done. OH well... at least this time he waited till we were gone on a ride to back in there. Last time he just backed into our trailer. :~[
Picture of unhappy hubby making a face at neighbor:
Anyway, it was a terrific ride! I'm a little creaky but the horses felt good the whole way. Cyn was good, Bay was good... Good first ride! Didn't rain till we got home. :~)
Frog great pictures. The butterflies are beautiful. Are they migrating or something? We had to have our horses step up on a rock like that one time at a ride, back when I was riding Belle. She didn’t do it. But every horse I’ve had since then has learned to do that.
Hair, congratulations on the ride:) You’re getting an early start this year. Looks like you all have had some flooding. Is that the creek we crossed. I don’t remember a bridge?
Duchess, vertical blinds can get a bit grungy, but nearly as bad as horizontal. Mine have turned a bit yellow, but I still like them too.

So did you get the neighbor to move his car? Any trouble?
Becky
Yeah - we got the van trailer situation solved... We’re just grumbling that he’d do that. He takes liberties all the time which are a pain in the rear.
I thought of you yesterday.
I ran into the husband of the lady who owns Scott’s yesterday down town. He’s kind of a car buff, always has some older model sports type car, Camero’s, SS’s, etc. He buy’s/trades all the time just for fun. He was driving a ‘74 Volkswagon Bug yesterday. Said he went to some car show, and a guy drove up in it with a for sale sign and $500 wrote on it. It’s showing 98,000 miles, just had a new engine put it it in 2000, new tires. It’s black and looked in fairly good condition from the distance I saw it. Isn’t that kind of cheap? The only thing about it I wouldn’t have liked was no AC...a black car with no AC is sure going to get hot in the summer.
Anyway, I was just wondering if it was as good a deal as I’m thinking?
