The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Congratulations on the impending new Grandchild!! You said this would be #3, so are the others boys or girls or one of each, and how old are they? I don’t think I recall you mentioning them before, just your daughters. You’ll have all kinds of riding buddies before long.

Sounds like you’re really getting things done with the house! I’ll bet it’s looking great.

That’s good news about Harley liking to run the barrels. I’ll bet everybody that sees him is just blown away by his looks. He’s a gorgeous horse. Somebody’s bound to want him for stud.

I hope you don’t get any more limbs down in that wind. I’ll bet there’s some that are hanging by a thread from the ice storm. Is it supposed to rain too, or just wind?

Harley is not a stud...I think you’re confused:).

No rain, just warm and windy. They are forecasting possible severe storms for tomorrow. But that’s a long way off to predict that.

Yesterday I had to go to Seattle.... Wiped me out!

Going to be nice today... not sure how to best take advantage of that yet!

You’ve been making more progress on the house then?

They had flowers at the store when we went, and our grass seed is finally starting to grow and fill in.... Spring is coming!

Yes, the ceilings are done, and just look great, and most of the wall painting is done.

I spent the day yesterday, cleaning. I just couldn’t go any further with the painting with the house so messy, I mean EVERY SINGLE room in the house was not just a mess, but a disaster. Took me 5 hours just to get 2 bedrooms, the kitchen, and dining/living rooms put back together. I still have the big bedroom to do. Then I’ll get back to painting. Then I will move outside, and start cleaning out the shop, cleaning up the property, painting the garden fence, finishing up planting the garden, etc....Once everything outside is done, THEN I will put in new carpeting...I’ve set my goal as having the house on the market by July 1.

Whew... that’s a lot of work.

We want to do some severe deep cleaning this spring and have a garage sale. Really de-clutter and get rid of extra stuff we don’t need to own and furniture pieces that are wrong and get the right things...

While it’s emptied out, I’ve thought it would brighten things up to paint in here... We’ll see... ;~)

My house looks that way. I need to take a weekend off and clean, but I just can't make myself do it. I'd rather go riding!

Kari and I are getting all geared up for our ride this weekend. I guess we'll leave sometime Friday morning, but they're giving a 40% chance of storms on Friday and a 60% chance on Saturday morning, so we're probably going to get wet. Nothing like camping in the rain! I'm taking the big trailer that we brought to your house, just because I'll have more room for my stuff, but it leaks, so I'll have to bring plenty of plastic to cover stuff with. Kari found me a cot with a mattress so I'm going to set that up in the back of her trailer and sleep back there. Hal's going this time, and their living quarters only sleeps 2, but at least I'll be dry.

I'm taking Bob and Hope and will alternate riding them so they both get some exercise and nobody gets too tired. Kari was planning on taking Faith and Daisy and riding them both, but Faith cut her front leg real bad yesterday out in the pasture and had to have stitches so she won't be able to ride her for several weeks. She'll have to bring her along though just so she can give her her meds and doctor her wound. It's bad that it happened at all, but especially now. Kari was really looking forward to riding her on this particular ride, so she's just fit to be tied.

I hope you’re not in the trailer sleeping during bad storms... may they pass right around you!

Heh, if we get bad storms while we're down there we'll just have to go climb under a rock or something coz that's about all there'll be besides trailers.

I don't think they're predecting anything severe, just heavy rain Friday night and Saturday morning. After that it should clear off and be nice. {Crosses Fingers}

Kristy has taken Harley twice to ride since I was here last...he is doing good but yesterday tried a bit of bucking after turning the 1st barrel. She thinks it was more he was having fun, rather then being mean...she has started pushing him a bit for speed and thinks he likes it..

I have watched a lot of barrell racing at the local saddle club shows and some of those horses are so excited they are on the edge of uncontrollable! I guess some of them really love it.
