This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well, I've read it three times and that's the way I read it! It's like one of those riddles. ;~)
Remarkable!
Well, I am outta here-ya’ll have a good weekend. I will be busy tomorrow with about 15 - 12 year old boyscouts that need to earn their horsmanship badges!
Ah - well have a good weekend!
You were smart enough to mention that she pay you to breed. I did; but thinking I was safe let this woman who could pay the stud fee for my male dog not pay atleast a deposit. It was an AI that she did herself(lied to me about that too)eventually walking off with $1,300 of sperm and shipping fees. Well, I sure learned fast. Get the money first. Sorry to say that; but’s true.
Gosh all the pics of the horses, car, and really cool saddles are neat.
I am going to post a new one of the girls. They just finished another show and cleaned up. My little pretties.
Gorgeous Girls! Congrats on the wins!
Well have fun today. It should be interesting.
I reckon Kari and Shirley I are going to go on to the Elkmont Benefit ride. I called Donny and they’re still having it. It’s raining a bit here now, but we’re on the northern edge of it so hopefully it won’t last too long. The little volunteer fire dept there is having a bean day too, so we should have a good lunch. I’m going to ride Goose and Kari’s going to ride Daisy, the B&W mare. Faith’s shoes are about to come off.
When I got to the barn yesterday afternoon I noticed Whirl kinda gimping on the gravel in front of the barn and darned if she hasn’t pulled a shoe off. So there go my plans for riding her tomorrow. I’ve thought about pulling the other one and trying Grace’s Easyboots on her coz I think they’d fit, though Lord knows how she’d do with boots on the fronts and shoes on the back. If they fit, I may just pull them all and try the boots all around. Or she may not need them on the backs, Grace doesn’t. It’s something else to think about I guess.
Well, I gotta get myself in gear if we’re going. Kari’s coming here, then we’re pulling the rest of the way in my rig.
If it's not one thing it's another. Have a good ride(s) this weekend.
They know they did good - look at those happy smiles.
No, I didn’t feel it, although my sister did and a friend in Carson City felt one of the ones last night.
347 earthquakes there in the past week - sounds a lot like a volcano getting ready to blow doesn’t it?
Thank you.
The funniest thing happened at the show. Peggy was showing Keeley and had not picked up the lead yet. Keeley got the lead tangled up in her foot because she saw Rosey and wanted to catch up with her and in doing so she caught Peggy’s foot and down went Peggy. And everyone is ok and Keeley won the event because the judge loved her chest expansion when she was rounding the corner at a full gallop which isn’t exactly the gate you want them in; but it does get them noticed. LOL
Thank you. They do have some happy grins; don’t they? LOL

That is a pretty picture.... a thousand trunks. :~)
Good morning everyone!
Where’s Beaker been? Beaker?
That picture turned out pretty good! I wasn’t sure it would. What I thought was cool was the little tufts of green moss around the base of each tree. It’s hard to see in the picture with all that other green, but it was very pretty. The only bad thing about that place is that there’ll be 10 billion mosquitoes there the next time we ride there.
I’ve been worrying about her too. I pinged her last week when I pinged Tuffydoodle and she never responded back. I hope she ain’t sick or hurt or something!
This filly was at the same trainer's that had the other filly, that broke her shoulder.
He (trainer) was feeding her the same as he does the other horses, but I think pumping those young halter horses up with high power feed, alfalfa hay and all those supplements is just not a good thing for some.
This is the filly from last year.
Indeed! :~\ I have no way to check up on her or hunt her down...
Some of you others could not disappear so easily!
Hopefully she’ll check in soon.
Our weekend was something of a bust. We intended to ride Saturday, at home, shakedown ride before going out on trail, to settle Hair’s nerves about her hubby and his horse being OK after a long break. But we ended up staying up half the night on Friday, in what was supposed to be the great possum hunt, and ended up not having any possums come, and us just drinking too much coffee and getting cranky at each other. It wiped us out for the day Saturday. We wouldn’t have felt more hungover had we played drinking games with college students.
But we did go get hay... which we needed to do. After unloading that, we were spent. And disappointed in the hay. Bad time of year, they’re scraping the bottom of the stack. They weren’t wanting to eat it at all, and I can’t have them filling up on just grass alone. I was real concerned I was going to colic somebody.
I think they did settle down and eat what we fed last night. Maybe they just had to get used to it. There’s nothing really wrong with it... it’s not moldy, but it is rather old, and it does have some very coarse alfalfa mixed in it, which they have refused before.
Anywho... we vowed to try to ride yesterday, but it rained on us.
