This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Hard to believe but you made me very thankful - 50 miles is my total commute, 25 each way. I don’t know what I’d do if I had to fill up twice a week, once a week is breaking the bank.
Looks like there towards the end you thought you’d turned it off but didn’t, then started moving around. I’ve done that before. It’s hard to see that little light sometimes.
I just got a call from Troy and he said that Whirl was ready to pick up so I guess I’ll run up there tomorrow evening and get her. It was an interesting conversation though because he said that of all the ones I’ve ever brought up there, he absolutely HATED training her. Said that if it had been anybody but me, he would’ve sent her home after a week. He said she thought too much, just like a mule, and he hates training mules too. Said that she just didn’t have any “guts” and he couldn’t get her focused and motivated. But I’m sure he was trying to motivate her through force and she wasn’t scared of him and was looking for a way, any way, to not do what he said, just for spite. So it ought to be interesting to see how WE get along, coz I LIKE a thinking horse, but I don’t like a horse that won’t go, so we’ll just have to see how it turns out. I guess I’ll take her to Elkmont this Saturday for the benefit ride and see how she does, if it doesn’t rain. Might be a popcorn-worthy event! ;o)
Sure you want to do that with a cast on your hand? (she sounds like an appaloosa) Take someone along to take pictures :)
I'm attempting to post Bladerider's video:
Gosh those are great pictures. Looks like a a wonderful place to ride on a hot day.
She may BE good, just not the kind of horse he likes. He likes machines. I'll just have to find out what makes her tick and go from there. He said she could be ridden in a halter, if that's what you wanted, and wasn't scared of anything, so she can't be THAT bad. He didn't like Blade either, and look how he turned out. Sometimes they just have to grow up.
I enjoyed your pictures:)
Becky
Girl, you need to recruit more people to ride all them horses! LOL. You have two green ones now that will need a lot of riding.
It worked! Thanks!
It was great, you will have to come up with us sometime. I am sure Frog would have an extra horse ;o)
The boys working on my ceilings showed up again today....this may put my TV watching out of commission for a few days:(...not real happy about that. wouldn’t be so bad over a weekend, there’s never anything on on the weekends, but during the week I like to fall asleep watching TV.
Becky
Oh no! I hope they can uncover the TV and the couch, at least!
Dining room.
Hallway.
All that's left is the kitchen.
Becky
Ack but what a mess still! It’s gonna be great when it’s done, but until then, it looks a little rough!
Yeah, it makes a horrible mess, but luckily enough it does vacuum up fairly easily. In the bedrooms you can’t tell the mess was every there. Of course the dust is still settling in those rooms. I’ve noticed that altho I had dusted everything well, there was white powder over everything again, even before tonight.
Becky
I can imagine. But it’ll clean up when it’s done.
It sounds like they’re making good progress with the ceilings. That’s funny about the plastic falling over the TV. I’m sure he would’ve thought you were having TV withdrawals and took it down yourself if it hadn’t happened while he was there. I can’t see the pics here at work, but I’ll check them out when I get home.
I had him reset Goose's shoes while we were there and that took a good while. He definitely couldn't shoe for a living because he stops and talks too much. Kari said she didn't think she'd ever seen anybody take that long to shoe one horse. But most of it was our fault because we were picking his brain about how to solve various gait problems through different hoof angles and shoes, plus he was telling us all of the trials and tribulations he had while training her, and most of it was pretty darned funny, so it was at least an interesting and informative wait.
I went by and let her out on my way to work this morning, expecting all the squealing, running and kicking that usually occurs when bringing one back after a month's absence. I even had the camera ready to take some pictures of it, but nothing happened. I guess they got reacquainted over the barn gate last night. That's a good thing I guess, but I was kinda disappointed. I wanted some good pictures! ;o)
