This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I finally made it back to work but have been snowed under all day, trying to catch up. Mothers service was real nice but Im glad its over. All that standing around and talking with strangers is very draining. Now Ive just got to handle the aftermath of trying to get everything all figured out. She did have all her business affairs in order though so that part should be relatively painless.
The worst part will be going through everything in the house and figuring out what to do with it. Were not planning on selling the house any time soon because Ive got no place to put anything until I get a house built, so thatll give us time to go through it room by room kinda like Becky was talking about, and theres about 45 years worth of stuff there to go through. {Grooooooan!!}
It’s OK to go slow on that, there are some things you know you will want to keep, some things that you know you won’t, and a lot of stuff you aren’t sure which pile to put it in.
How many other family “heirs” are involved?
What I hope most of all is that you and your family can go through all this ‘business’ without ill feelings over things. I’ve been pretty lucky in that regard, even with a couple of difficult aunts in the picture.
I understand about the service, I’m glad it was nice, and even the drain of the strangers and acquaintances is therapeutic, at least it was for me.
Have a very Happy Birthday :)
There’s just my sister and I. She had already set us up as joint owners on all her accounts and had put the house in a “Life Estate” with us as the owners 5 or 6 years ago, so we don’t even have to go through probate, unless I run up on something unforseen.
She also has 2 sisters and a brother left living, out of 8, but the way things were set up there should be no problem.
Ping! :~D
Rocky is so cute but you sure that’s the same colt in the 2nd pic?:’)
I’m very sorry to hear that about your Mom
There is a 5 mile country road going to my house. It floods with heavy rain. They are making it a 2 lane for better port access but in some areas they have droped it about 8 feet. They are putting drainage pipes in but...I sure hope they know what they are doing.
Thank you..Thank you...Thank you...and Happy Birthday.
Yep - same colt.
How are things with you?
Good. My pictures should be ready Tuesday.
That’s great - I’ll be looking forward to them.
So - Bob and I are getting out of the horse business as soon as we can get just about everyone sold. My son has started his own business and is doing well. Work is driving me crazy, now we are going to cut hours to the public. That’s about it on this end :)
Momma cat still visits. I can't see how her belly can get much bigger. I've had to raise the garage door a few more inches. She's smart in some ways but not in others. She will cry and cry for feed out of the open bag. There is no reason why she couldn't help herself though. Then she will cry until I follow her and jumps up on the commode. She won't drink but looks at me and crys. until I fill her water bowl.
The changes here are driving me crazy too. It keeps changing - just when I think I’ve figured something out it opens up all new again. And I accidently lost all of my old pings so now I can’t find some health stuff.
Maybe momma cat is asking for permission for food??? and water.
No, I think she is telling me what to do:’)
Nah :)
I know what you mean. The word I'm hearing is, "they" (and I'm not sure who "they" are) is taking bids now on replacing/fixing this bridge, and if the city can't afford to fix it, the state will. Well, IMO, I'm hoping the state does it. I'm not sure if the state will be any better, but I've seen the bridges the city builds, and I've not been impressed:).
Becky
Well, I sure feel for you having to clean out the house. It’s not a fun thing. I’m going to start today on a back room, and try to be ruthless about just trashing everything possible. Once I get all that done, then we will start hauling the sellable stuff to the building for a garage sale. The major furniture will have to stay put till I sell the place...from all the HGTV shows I’ve watched it’s better to have the place “staged” which means the garage sale can’t happen till the place is sold, most of it I won’t use in the new place.
Glad your back with us.
Becky
Happy birthday!!
How was your steak?
Becky
Oh - we went to the best restaurant!
First we had their wonderful SW Quesadilla stuffed with seafood... mmmm crab. And they serve that with a Mango Salsa that I could just eat with a spoon it’s so good.
Then we split one Seafood Fettuccine dinner and one Prime Rib dinner. The waiter there splits it for us and I think we pretty much get almost two portions of each, it’s a nice place! Mmmm.... We were moaning and smilin’ the whole meal.
