FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

I haven’t heard anything since last night, so I’ll assume she got better.

I sure wish I felt like working a horse, it’s not raining, but it’s only 42 degrees and just feels chilldamp out.

Well, guys, I’m beginning to feel I’m kind of a flake:)...not making excuses but I guess I’m still adjusting...

I quit my job today. An aspect of the job that I had not anticipated was emerging, and I just couldn’t deal with it...I missed my kids...I feel like I fell out of the loop, with them:). Come to find out they all have missed me too, they didn’t want to say anything because they knew I liked the job. I did, just not enough to loose any amount of connection I have with them...I’ve lost enough. They all get together 3-4 times a week play ball, cards, games, and I wasn’t there with them anymore...even on my days off I was so tired I just couldn’t get there.

There will be plenty to do to keep me busy...I’m going to answer the phone’s and learn to measure parking lots and do bids...that will help Charlie out. I also have so much to do around here, I don’t know why I thought I had time to work a job. Trying to get the house on the market had just come to a roaring halt...I need to be sorting and cleaning stuff out so that as soon as the remodel stuff gets done, it’s ready to get on the market...that wasn’t going to happen fast maybe not at all with me working.

So, I’m now among the stay at home folks again.

Becky

:) this calls for one of those happy dance elephants or something. I’m glad you made that decision.

Did you at least buy up some flowers while you still had the employee discount? :~)

I don’t blame you a bit. That kind of job in particular would wear me out. I wouldn’t have been able to handle the late hours. Helping Charlie sounds good.

Thanks Duchess:)....I’m glad I tried it, but I’m OK with giving it up.

LOL...no I actually didn’t buy anything, never thought of it. The job was wearing, I think I would have adjusted some what tho...it was getting easier.

I am looking forward to going to check out jobs with Charlie, and I’ll be down at the building more so I’ll see Jenny more too, and of course the babies:)

Starting tomorrow, I’m going to start working on one room at a time getting the “frap” sorted, stored or thrown out.

I did have a bit of good news today...I heard from the insurance company about my life insurance, and the medical exam I had to take to get. Seems I’m so healthy that even at age 54, I got preferred rates:). Pretty good if I do say so myself...even the agent was surprised:) He had told me I’d get standard.

Woo hoo.... glad to hear you are a good bet!

Sorting ‘frap’, one room at a time... gee that sounds like a good idea for someone around here to do too. ;~\

:-) I was thinking when you started that job.... she’s got tons more energy than me .. I get tired just shopping there, and shoppers get to leave.

I think you’ll have a lot more enjoyment out of working with Charlie and it won’t be nearly so wearing physically or mentally. I only deal with the public three or four hours of my day and that’s three or four hours too many most of the time.

Hal likes tall ones, too. He’s 6’1”.
Yeah, they’re old. I’m just glad they’re still riding.
They’re a hoot. There’ll always be plenty of people that like the shorter ones, too.

I like the big butted quarter horses, too. The rounder the better. Sissy may not have a long slender neck, but she’s got a big butt. She rides like a couch.

Just taking care of a place and large animals is a full time job. If Hal wasn’t at home, we couldn’t do it. I don’t see how you could have either.
The part time thing with your family sounds good.

Water went over the bridge again last night, and we have more damage. First picture from the beginning of the week.

Today.

MOre from today.

All the barriers that were set up are gone, and there has been more caving in at one end.

OMG! Becky! I saw the storms on the weather last night. We are coming to Ardmore on Monday from Houston, will we be able to make it?

Well, I’m not real familiar with where Ardmore is, so sorry I can’t give you more info. I’d sure check with someone before heading this way...Around the Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Bixby area I know there is lots of flooding around.

BTW, just noticed you weren’t going to be traveling till Mon. I’d think by then you’d be OK. After this morning the rain is suppose to clear out. But I have heard that the Dallas area is in bad shape also.

Ardmore is south of OKC about 1 1/2 hours north of Dallas. It is on I 35 I think. We will need to check it out before we come.

The rain will be cleared out (hopefully) by Monday but the bridges won’t be fixed.

This bridge is just a small rural bridge, I have not heard of any major bridges being reported as having problems. This bridge has been failing for the last 8-10 years. This damage has not “just” occurred.

Well they may have to fix that bridge now...

I didn’t know you were getting more severe weather!

Good morning!
