This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
OK - so once every six months or so I should catch up that pony and work with her a little, right?
First we had to have a bath.
Oooh I don't like THIS very much!
No, I don't like this AT ALL! Hey - that's COLD!
[the crummy looking fence in the background is TEMP fence in the yard to protect some new grass I planted]
This is my sulking face...
Aw come on... don't take pictures of ~that~! How humiliating.
Maybe if I hide over here by the flower box she won't spray me with the hose any more.
[she's actually trying to run to Bay for protection... you can just barely see a spot of his nose in the shadows]
Oh dang... she's still spraying me!
OK with that done, it was time to lunge her a bit...
OK I'll go... but I still feel very wet and very icky!
[she takes really teeny choppy baby steps when she's wet, and she scares herself if her wet tail touches her, it's really kinda funny.]
Now we're starting to feel better!
Ooooh yippie! A JUMP! [little warm up jump]
OK - yeah mom, I admit, I took off WAY too early! I was just SOOO excited!
Better this time
ooooh BIGGER jump!
I can do this all day!
And she would have done it all day... She does love to jump. It's about the only thing she loves to do . She had to go around a lot of times for me to get even a couple jumping pictures, bless her heart. It's hard to juggle that pony, a lunge line, and a camera with a significant shutter delay and get the picture you want while she's still over the jump! Rats... we got lots of pictures of her cantering away from it!
Anyway... that's how I spent my afternoon, taking a break from pasture mowing you can se evidence of... Saw that pony standing there and misread her expression to read "Hey, I'm bored, why don't you halter me up and give me a job to do?"
Lol...great pictures:)
she looks as mad as Susie did today when i took her for her allergy shot and nail clipping. I swear that dog was spitting she was so mad:)
Becky
She needs one of those captions “I R A MAD PONY”.
She’s so sweet though... She gets very mad and very scared, but she’s never done one aggressive thing.
She scared herself with her tail and bucked and got turned around and twisted in the line, and I really thought she was gonna blow up and I’d have to let go, but she stopped... she’s gotten a lot better with age. I used to not be able to bring her back down if she panicked.
Those are great pictures :) I don’t think she particularly likes baths by the way.
Got my fingers crossed that you get the job offer that you want.
I think you’re right about that :~) We danced all over the yard :~D
Great pictures and captions, Hair.
The girl who bought Bodie, emails me everyday on his progress. The vet was out and cleaned his sheath. She (the vet) told the girl, his tail rubbing was not from being dirty and he was not that dirty. I asked her then, what would make him do it. He has been wormed. Waiting for her reply.
Maybe he just itches. ;~)
Sounds good for him that she’s taking good care of him.... Good home.
Those are great pictures Hair! I just LOVE that Pony and I love to see her jump. She’s so funny but she’s so peculiar too. That’s hysterical about her being scared of her own tail.
Yall should never have high blood pressure with that one around:’)
I saw your slugs-mating picture over on HH. Now THAT was strange!
Slug porn :~D
Google "slug mating" if you're curious, it's really quite fascinating :~)
I have to get out of here, have to head to town, but the farrier is going to come out Monday and Pull Bay's shoes. I'm going to try to treat that black whateveritis in Bay's feet barefoot for three weeks, then he'll come back.
That’s about as nasty-looking a thing as I’ve seen in quite a while!
I’ll be interested to see how Bay’s feet look once the shoes come off. But be prepared for a lot of pitiful-looking walking around for quite a while. Poor Bob is finally getting over most of his ouchiness, but I’ve got big gravel everywhere too, so that makes it worse. Hopefully your ground is more rock-free than mine.
I’m only eager to do this because Bay didn’t seem ouchy at all when he lost that one shoe not to long ago. Our ground is not real rocky here at home, it’s pretty good. So I think he’ll be OK. It would be an interesting test, if he’s good, maybe I’ll pull them for winters... I dunno.
Yikes... I sure hope you’re OK!
I guess the lesson learned here would be to maybe reconsider your options if your trainer ever says “Well THIS should be an interesting ride!” again! :~D
I hope you are ok. Next time I would tell her “you first”
I think I’ll be alright, but man is there going to be a nasty bruise.
I hope not but bruises heal faster than bones.:’) I thought I was going to have a black eye last week. I work with my grandkids on fight and grab hold of stuff if anyone ever tries to put them in a car. The 4 y/o kept wanting to “play” too. So I picked him up and he decked me.
