This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Then we’ll definitely want Blade in front just to even things out.
You gaited folk might just have to lap us.... Becky can send you out on a loop. :~)
Is it just Frog and I with gaited horses?
Yup. :~)
I’m glad to hear that you’re busy interviewing. That’s a good sign. Hopefully you’ll find something you really like real soon.
And that was kinda strange about the guy with the horse trailer. Usually horse people are friendlier than that. I can see where he might be a little skittish of a stranger walking up on him like that on the road, but there was no call to be rude. When I was broke down on the side of the road with that blown out tire I was tickled to death when that guy down the road drove up and offered to let me pull it down under the shade trees in his yard while I waited for my husband to come with the other trailer.
How many horses can you borrow? I know, I won’t be hauling a horse that far by myself.
Good luck with the interviews.
I imagine ol’ Harley can turn ‘em and burn ‘em pretty good himself when you let him. If you turn him loose it’ll be me left coughing in the dust.
Terrible floods in Central Ohio. We had over 6 inches of rain last week and the worst areas have over 9 inches. It was very dry here, so we needed it.
That's just decent walking speed. 10 to 15mph isn't unrealistic for a sustainable rack and some can do over 20 for short bursts.
Well, that's the bad part, coz when the ground gets so hard and dry like that it all just runs off. I sure feel for those folks. It's like a starving man trying to get a drink out of a fire hose.
I know... I wish it was feasible for me to bring mine. :~)
Well, I can always haul a couple of guns and we could go shooting.
That might actually be a fun plan for a day... if we end up having time to want extra activities!
Becky, any gun clubs around your parts?
I can get plenty of horses. I knew you were not bringing one. I’ve already got Dot slated for you:) I’m going to ride Rocky, Hair will ride Harley and Beaker Celia’s Dandy. He’s a good boy.
You know if you have any one that wants to come with you that would be fine. I hate to think of you coming that far by yourself.
Becky
I’m sure there is a gun club somewhere, but we just shoot out here when we shoot, or down on the kids land. My neighbors do it all the time.
Becky
LOL!! Ain't it grand, the differences between country and city life. In town if you hear gunfire you're gonna have the SWAT team down there in short order. In the country you just look up from your paper and say "Awww Hell! The naybers are takin' target practice out th' back door again!" ;o)
I just now recalled that my FIL does that same thing. When his pecan trees are full and the squirrels, crows and bluejays are carrying them away as fast as they can run or fly, he’ll lay in wait for them in the enclosed sunroom with a .22 rifle. Then when he sees one, he’ll raise the window and blow them to smithereens, then close the window and wait for the next one, like nothing happened. And the darned thing is LOUD for a .22 too. It just cracks me up.
LOL...yeah there is a big difference:)
