FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

What do you mean you fell out of the truck? That bar is supposed to prevent that. Did it break?

Yeah. It came off. I was so upset. My husband is out of town and I was telling him it was because I’m too fat. He consoled me by saying, no it just isn’t meant to be used as a pull up bar. Then he goes and tells me...but don’t pull yourself in with the steering wheel. It might come off too :’(

BS it’s not meant to be used as a pull up bar. I use it all the time getting into Bob’s truck - heck, he uses it and he’s heavy. It was defective if it came off and Dodge needs to replace it.

I hope so. No telling how much it will cost to replace. My husband asked if there were two screws there. My answer “not any more”.

It should not have come loose. Go into Dodge limping and waving it in the air. They will fix it.

I could do the limping real honest but ..no..I’ll get my husband to take it in. I should have already have got the side steps. I just didn’t want to let go of the money right now.

Ours have steps and I still use the grab bar to get in them. I agree, that’s what they’re for and they shouldn’t break.

I still have to update my resume (CV) before I can apply to that company. I just can’t make myself sit down and do it.
I hate paperwork. I guess that’s alot of what that job it too, huh? At least I could stay home.

I know. He was just trying to make me feel better. I had to laugh about his steering wheel joke though. He’s been out of town a couple of weeks and should be back here in about an hour. I’ve missed him.

They call you in sometimes though. I have worked at home for months then I got called to do 2 jobs. You can work local though. I like to go places so I’m on the out of town list.

The dogs sound great. You should get someone to do a video of them working in the shows.

An “old fart” as Frog calls them, told me tonight at the horse sale that he went out the other day after working a mare to a buggy all day and she had a baby by her side. He was the one that bred her, he had her US’d and it was positive. She acted like she was in season (they call it “horsey”) the next month, so he thought she had “slipped” it. He didn’t rebreed her (thank goodness) and out pops a baby anyway!!! Wild. The guy that did the US told him maybe he would believe him next time!!!

That would be great. I really hope I’m not at work, though. If Hal is there alone and catches her he’ll panic. He paniced when the dog had puppies and came and got me off a horse down in the cotton field. By the time I got there she was finished.
I read that the mare can control when she foals to a point. That is weird. I would want it out as soon as it was ready.

Good morning.

Bay looks very good, as does your pasture.

I worked last night an 8 hour shift...whew...was I tired. But I did finally get to be a cashier, and I enjoyed it. I work again on Mon. Today, I’m going up to see my dad, and we are going on to Ka. to visit a cousin of mine. She just moved into a new house and I saw it last year when I was there. I’m going to take some pictures of it to kind of use as a model for my apartment. It will have to be scaled down a lot, she has a very big house...but her kitchen was all open with the living area. The plans that Kristy’s mothers friend came up with, I didn’t really like...I’ve got my own ideas, and just need it drawn to sacle.

.On the back of those house plan books at Home Depot and places there are numbers where you can order books for apartments. I bought one several years ago just on duplexes. You might find a plan like what you are thinking about. JAT

That cat...she is the one my husband has been feeding and trying to pet for a month. She will only let him get about 10 feet from her. He dropped his jaw when I picked her up. I tried to hand her to him but she started fighting. He's still got work to do.

Cindy, good suggestion:)

Here's some pictures of the kitchen I'd like to use as a model for mine.

Backside of the island

And I really liked the counter tops, they are formica.
