FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

That's exactly what my trainer says. She says he is a good boy who wants to please . . . and he really has a good mind in the sense that he thinks things through and he DOES learn. He's just a bit slow on the uptake.

But as I told her, I'd rather have one who's not quite the sharpest knife in the drawer who WANTS to be good, instead of a smart horse who wants to be bad. She used to have one of those, and we all hated him. Life's too short to ride killers and crazies.

Did you put poor Bay in a neck-stretcher?

Evening. I’m back home. I was out of diet cokes so I went to Walmart. Groceries are really going up. It cost me 94 dollars!
I don’t know where my the momma cat is. Sarah had scattered cat food all over the garage. I left the door cracked and it was all gone when I came back.
Funny about Levi. I’ve had those “ok that’s enough” days too. Reading your post ...I miss not having a horse. Not 600 dollars a month and the problems but I miss being around them.

Yep, the guy still wants him :) We’ll see what happens in a couple of months. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you - early evening baby.

Hey there Cindy!

Well you know, Levi isn't mine. I take lessons, and pay my trainer to ride him. You could still take lessons and be around horses. And, I'm sure that your barn owner wouldn't mind help with stalls. :-)

No.. Riding should be fun and that only happened occasionally for me. No horses for me until I have a big back yard:’)

Hair that is a great picture:)

Work was nothing more then sitting and watching some videos about the proper way to lift things, and to clean up spills, filling out paperwork, listening to some guy tell us about the benefits, and a tour of the place. All in all about 5 hours. Today I will go in for however long I want to up to 8 hours and do some training on a computer...I am suppose to spend so much time each day I work doing this till I complete the program.

Then on Sat. I go to work from 1-10, hopefully that will be when I start checking.

Yesterday morning a friend who is wanting to start walking for exercise came out and we walked...she likes to walk in the woods. We did the whole loop that takes us thru the guys hunting field, then back around...about 4 miles. I can tell it this morning.

Yikes... I'd have brought the horse :~)

I'll be trying to walk quite a bit on our trail rides too... to try to get in some semblance of better shape.

Good luck with however long you work on the computer today! Are you liking the mood and tone and people there?

It seems to be a fairly friendly place. There are over 400 people that work there.

To be honest, I just want to go in work a shift and go home, I’m really not wanting to “make friends”...or get into the drama of the work place. I’m thinking being a cashier I have a better chance of staying out of all that. I shop there pretty often, and other then very early in the morning, I’ve never seen the cashiers not having a line at their register. I don’t mean to sound like I will be unfriendly, I just don’t want to be in the “Walmart family loop” :) know what I mean:)

Yeah, I know what you mean :~)

2J was there yesterday selling candy bars out front. Wondered if she’d run into you... she said no. :~)

You’re welcome, and welcome to the thread too.

Do you do your own trimming or have someone else do it?

I’ve been trimming my own for the last several years and have found a lot of useful information, on both the techniques and helpful tools, on a lot of different websites. If you want some more links I’ve got plenty and can PM them to you if you like.

I can understand you wanting to just do the shift and leave. I don’t socialize with my co-workers except at work. I like them all but I’m just not into being “part of the family” there - I got to much to do at home :)

Help - I really dislike the new format of FR. I can’t easily get anywhere and I have checked the set up and can’t seem to find how to set up the page to the way it used to be. I want to come on and see the headings with the last posts by number for all of the forums. Is it possible to get that without chosing everything and then chosing comments and if you don’t chose in the right order you have to start all over again?

Bear in mind, it’s Friday night after a long week so I’m not very bright right now. Directions suitable for a two year old would work. :)

One big thunderstorm passed over our house around 9 o’clock (we were out at dinner with our choirmaster and his wife) and another one is on the way right now. But there’s no current tornado warning — just severe t’storm.

I’ve been over on the other thread - sounds like a good bit of damage so you take care okay. Glad to hear you and yours are fine.

Me, too!!! I heard it on the news and thought about you. It looked awful!! We are getting haaaarrrrrddd rain and hail, but hopefully the last line it on the way out. It is going east at 51 mph. Hope you don’t have any problems from this round either.

My mare is still hanging on. Had her tail raised and belly hard last nite around 10p, so Hal went out and checked her every 1=2 hrs. all nite. Nothing.
