FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Good morning:)

Tomorrow is Tucker's birthday, and I put his gift from me together just now, and IMO, it's pretty cool, a batting machine:).

The batter taps the red button on homeplate, and the basket with the balls swings up, they are covered in velcro and the arm hanging as velcro so it catches a ball, holds it, the basket goes back down then the batter can bat:)

Tucker should really like this:)

Looks like your getting the weather we got earlier this week. We have sun and pretty blue skies today, but it’s still a bit cold.

Hey - now that’s a good Tucker present... What are the balls made of? He’s gonna break some windows :~)

They are pretty stiff, but I don’t think they would break a window....knock on wood, the kids got a heck of a swing:)

Ohhhh!!!! That’s going to be so much fun. I think the weather is going to be nice enough to play outside tomorrow, so we’ll be able to try it out. He’s going to love that. The kid should have enough baseball stuff after tomorrow, I think everyone is getting him something to do with baseball. He’ll be set.

Cute! (They have so much cool stuff now that they didn’t have when I was a kid!)

We made the mistake of going out to Lowe's and to pick up a repaired vacuum cleaner.

It is cold as can be, and VERY windy, and still a few snowflakes spitting around. Nasty, nasty weather.

The Labs and I are going to sit in the study on the sunny side of the house and BEAD! (you can't imagine how helpful Labs are when dealing with teeny teeny tiny little seed beads . . . . . not!)

Yes, he does ;~)

Here's what we're up to: Honey is putting in stepping stones out to the barn where the grass gets worn down by traffic. We've got it fenced off, then we'll seed it.

Yeah I told her to wait until later and we would wet the grass to keep the birds from eating them. She was impatient though so when she asked if she plant them I told her yeah. Kept her busy for quite awhile:’). I have to go to Walmart in a bit and she “ain’t” taking off that Hannah Montana wig.

It’s really windy here too. Put an ‘r” in beads and that’s what Sarah and I are going to make this afternoon.

"Love, like a yellow daffodil, is blooming through the snow.
Here by the Tower of Julian I tell them what I know.
Ring out! bells of Norwich, and let the winter come and go.
All shall be well again, I know.

Good Afternoon everyone.

We're getting lots and lots of rain here. I've been at work all day and just got home. I'm going to try to get to the barn tomorrow.

I don't have the updated ping list on this computer, so I know that I don't have everyone pinged, but remember that tonight we have to turn the clocks ahead.

Just popped into my head from that pretty picture.

Sydney Carter also wrote "Lord of the Dance". He was a sort of religious poet/songwriter of the early 20th c. Maddy Prior and Steeleye Span recorded a lot of his stuff.

Well, the poem - or song --is beautiful. :-)

I think I'm going to walk over to the pasture and see if I can get a picture of my younger daughter's horse to send to her prev. owner. She still has this horse's younger sister holding her for us because we couldn't get her to load.

The sun is out here now, although it's still cold.
