If y'all ever come east, let me know and we'll fix you up with some horses. I'm sure my trainer will lend us a couple -- I've been riding with her for almost 20 years now, and I think she trusts me! < g >
And here I sit at work, because they moved Presidents' Day to Dec. 26 so we'd have the day after Christmas off.
We have some lovely madeup holidays too -- Robert E. Lee's Birthday and Confederate Memorial Day, just for starters. Haven't heard anybody complaining, either, they might lose a day off!
Wow!! Congrats on all the awards! Those are two very talented young people.
My husband and I have come east, we camped/rode at Hard Labor Creek. Ever been there? We have also gone to Dahlonega and rented a cabin on the Toccoa (sp) river and rode some up there.
Very nice! Congratulations!

Gracie is such a good girl that she'll stand without complaint to be shod. You don't need to twitch her or even HOLD her, she just stands and smiles at everyone.
So I get to be nosy and look over the farrier's shoulder. He doesn't seem to mind though.
Beautiful country.
I’ve never ridden up near Dahlonega, but have kayaked the Toccoa River. We’ve ridden up Clayton way, which is farther east.
Mine are doing better than they used to so I get to watch a little bit more. I thought Bob was going to go to sleep on Saturday morning. After 2 years I think he’s finally got the hint that putting his lips on the farrier’s back or head is NOT a smart thing to do.
That first picture is gorgeous. I don’t think you’ve ever shown me those before. How long ago was it that y’all went?
Congratulations to all :)
It looks like you had a really nice and fun banquet. Awesome awards and music no less. I’m glad you got to win too.
:) I’ll watch the video tomorrow at work.
LOL - we celebrate Robert E Lee’s birthday too - although here they are misinformed and call it Martin Luther Kings birthday. And we dont get a day off after Christmas but we do get one after Thanksgiving. Oh, and Nevada Day.
Hmm, let me think....It was one of our Anniversary trips. We had gotten Eve the summer before. It may have been November 2003 or 2004. We did not ride much around the cabin, it snowed on our way home we stopped at the State park ther and rode, we would like to go back to that park but I don't think there is camping there and it is a long trek for a one day ride.
Oh, we get MLK’s birthday TOO! And we get “Yankee Memorial Day” as well as Confederate Memorial Day. But not Jeff Davis’s birthday, not any more . . . < sniff >
The farrier I had in North Carolina used to have a red rag hanging out of his back pocket. The horses would mouth it and play with it while he was trimming. I kept expecting he’d get bitten but he never did. He didn’t want me to hold the horses - he’d just drop their lead line and step on it if they started to move. I was convinced that he communicated with them telepathically. A mare that hated farriers loved him and stood like an angel.
LOL
I was just trying to figure out who the horses were in front of the cabin. So It was Eve and Queen.
He sounds like a good one.
I reckon my poor ol’ farrier has been bit so many times that every time he feels lips on him he just has a reflex reaction to throw up an elbow. It’s effective though.
