Mine are doing better than they used to so I get to watch a little bit more. I thought Bob was going to go to sleep on Saturday morning. After 2 years I think he’s finally got the hint that putting his lips on the farrier’s back or head is NOT a smart thing to do.
The farrier I had in North Carolina used to have a red rag hanging out of his back pocket. The horses would mouth it and play with it while he was trimming. I kept expecting he’d get bitten but he never did. He didn’t want me to hold the horses - he’d just drop their lead line and step on it if they started to move. I was convinced that he communicated with them telepathically. A mare that hated farriers loved him and stood like an angel.
