This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Evening everyone - we made it up here to NC but this side of the mountain is now covered in ice - so we may be here a spell .....
Sounds like we could all use a little global warming about now :)
Good morning all.....haven’t been on due to my computer dying.
I got a new one at Best Buy a Sony Vaio that was on sale for a $699 and I had a $100 gift card so I went for it.
I am going to try to post some pictures of our new place in Aiken sometime today. I kind of forget how to do it so I have to fool around with it.
I love it here. It is going to be in the high 60’s over the weekend and I hope to go on a long trail ride. Waylon is really settling in. The other horse Jet has been renamed OBIE, in honor of my favorite late uncle who loved horses. Obie is definitely the dominant male and Waylon has the scars to prove it. Do you think I should separate them? Or is this usual? They neigh at one another if they are separated but when together Obie won’t let him near the hay or water.
Mr. Estrogen is up in Ohio putting his dad in a new nursing home. He was in assisted living that can’t handle him anymore. They are supposed to have a snow storm up there so I hope he gets back without running into a lot of snow.
I had friends from Ohio here last week and the husband wired our barn....what a job. He’s an electrician and put in all the stuff for the workshop, tack room and the two stalls. What a nice friend huh? He saved us an awful lot of money and I hope I can repay him somehow.
Well, look for my pictures hopefully today. (crossing fingers I can pull it off)
We had freezing rain last night and this morning. Schools were closed, so Alison is going to have a long weekend.
Well then just sit back with some hot chocolate and enjoy it. I’ll bet it’s beautiful.
If you’re not putting out separate hay piles for them then you probably ought to. And as long as there’s a large enough water trough that Obie can’t drink dry before Waylon gets any then Waylon’s probably getting enough water by waiting to drink until Obie walks away from the trough. But if Obie continues to beat up on Waylon, even after they’ve been together for a month or so, then you probably ought to divide the pasture somehow to where they can still see each other but can’t fight. I made a small paddock for my old horse, Tennessee, out of electro-braid rope and a fence charger, not because of agression, but because Tennessee needed a dry lot with no grass because of his metabolic issues. It works out well for me.

Oooooo, y’all got a decent amount! Enough to be pretty but not enough to hurt anything.
You still closet cleaning?
A winter wonderland! And bright and clear. I’m a little jealous, we got puddles of rain but no snow.
It’s kind of pretty. I don’t think it’s going to last long.
I’m not cleaning closets today...I don’t want to overload the trash men:) Today JP is going to come stay for a while, and I told him we would take a walk in the woods in the snow.
Then I’ll go to town for feed and bank errands.
Becky
Well that sounds like fun. I always enjoyed walking around in the snow when it was nice and sunny outside. The only thing prettier than that is a full moon on snow.
Oh, and you’re not gonna believe this, but I got an e-mail from Kari, my riding buddy, yesterday and it seems that somebody has also stolen a nearly full tank of fuel from her diesel truck! Now she lives 5 or 6 miles from me so you wouldn’t think it would be the same people, but it might be I guess. But the really bizarre thing is that the truck was parked in a shed at her house and her driveway is probably a quarter mile long, plus the fact that her husband is retired and is home most of the time. So they had to be pretty brassy to have done it under those conditions! It just blows my mind!
Well, have fun on your walk... you know the drill... take the camera :~)
Frog... on the gas... you know it would really mess us up in the Ranger if someone did that, because the gas gauge doesn’t work. We fill it by mileage. Ack. What a bummer.
Your patio area looks so different without all that growth on the fence! We had some wind damage to our garage and barn roof Tuesday night, same night Frogs power went out. Ours went out to for about 2 hours.
My thoughts are always with you Becky, praying you are really doing OK.
Oh no... Fixable? or will you have to call in help to get things rebuilt?
Probably going to have to have a new roof put on the garage and barn, to bad it didn't damage the house roof too so we could just get it all replaced! It is over 10 years old.
Too bad the way that worked out then. ;~)
Did it just get blown off, or do you have trees that blew over? I don’t remember if we’ve ever seen pictures of your place.
In case anyone is interested, the Irish Setter that will be in the sporting group in this show is one of mine. His name is Dillon - Ch. Rusticwood Airtight Alibi.
Saturday at 8pm & 11pm
Sunday at 12pm
It is also on the 7th, 9th, 17th and 23rd.
Oh cool! I’m assuming this is on Animal Planet?
